funny thing is where did you get your information from about what you believe or lack of belief in God? wasn't it a book from some human author. I would rather believe in a book inspired by God rather than human wisdom.

Inspired by god..... All you have is the word of the author, and a roman council of pagans looking to pick the books that will let them keep there power.

If they are inspired by god, then a book written by men is a much better choice becuse. (follow me)

God is beyond Human understanding. Otherwise we could find him, and understand him and wield his power in some form. and he wouldnt be omni potent becuse he wants humans to belive in him based on faith. Not based on findings.

So that is fact. Thats an absolute if you assume God is real. (by the christian standard) So he is beyong human understanding, including what he says and how he does things. I also recall the voice of god. Lets asume that this being gets it perfect and theres 0 error in what god tells him to tell men, and what he acctually says. If the voice of god comes down and tells them what to write..... no author can write exact. In every case of dictation there is error. In translation there is error. In people copying the book, theres error. Proving that you were inspired by God is also an impossible. As far as we know all the books inspired genuienlly God could have been destroyed when the bible was sanctioned. (minus a few caches of them here and there.)

If the voice of god does it in visions or inspiration in the sudden feeling of knowng what needs to be written there is an infinite probabillity of error.

all God can gurentee is that what he says is truth. He cant gurentee that the person he picks isnt going to decide "If i put this in then I can get away with....(or then I can make it so that guy I dont like can no longer be a "pimp". or something the writter may be jealous of.)

So there we have proof, that the bible though inspired by God is far from perfect.

Im not going to bother with the time period change, the fact that latin is a dead language (which the original bible is written in) so we cant determine slang from percision. Or the fact that it was litterally re-written to be more appealing in how it reads.

A book written by a man based on human wisdom. Is organized, percise, exact, to the point, and it is a definite tool for a purpose. Hopefully based on a general will to do what is correct and expunge what the writter has found to be untrue. Or critiscize a hypocrisy.

essentially, you cant use "the bible is a holy book and its perfect" becuse its not. If you want to say " I feel that the bible is correct, and the other books are full of poop" then go ahead.

Did you ever wonder why there is rebellion when reading the Bible? I thought about that very reaction myself and I asked the inspiring author whom we have identified as God. and The Holy Spirit, of course, I could not ask in person but I could ask in prayer, because the word came from God and though others may write well and produce some visual instructional material to look at and read, to feed the mind, They have no internal authority , only external to show and sound the words in great theatrical mannerisms . their is still a distinction between the two .

Have u ever heard of the telephone game? Where u tell one person something and they tell the next person and so on and so forth each other someone tells someone what the original thing was said it gets added taken away and basically well changed around. The bible was not written until hundreds of years after Jesus died reason why we don't believe exactly what the bible says is because of the telephone game. Its been misquoted. I do believe Jesus was real and he was a fantastic man who believed in forgiveness and love and being nonjudgmental and not being nasty which is why alot of non believers are turned off by alot of Christians who are supposed to be a role modle for their religion and contradict them-self. BUT unfortunately no one is perfect. If there was a non believer do u think Jesus would have been offended and angry? No ... WWJD? Look past that. Not many Christians can. Some get this egoistical attitude, holier than thou and cast judgment on other people. If non believers attack you , be the bigger person and see it the way Jesus would! I don't believe everything that was written in the bible but that's just me. I don't see u any less than me just because you do. That is how Christians should be!

"I would rather believe in a book inspired by God rather than human wisdom."

So you'll never accept medical treatment for a fatal disease, then? There are those of faith who do not.

I did not arrive at Atheism through a book. Nor did I arrive at Atheism because someone talked me into it. It took many years of serious and critical thought for me to finally feel comfortable with admitting that there is no God.

We are not that different. You are an Atheist as well in that you do not believe in Thor. Zeus. Apollo. You do not pray to the Wind Spirit. Nor do you worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The only difference in our faiths is that you believe in one God, while I believe in none.

If I had to guess, it's mostly just backlash from the prejudices of Judeo-Christian religion. It could be that's their way of waking up the people who still believe in an allegorical fiction book to be true.

Most people who attack the bible don't believe in God, so when you tell an atheist that you believe the Bible to be the spoken word of God, you might as well tell him that you believe the book was written by the tooth fairy.

I could name you many other books written by "God". There's a reason I believe in something and that reason is evidence.

You also use evidence, however, yours is poor and unreliable. For example, why do you believe that God wrote the bible, because your Church told you? Because your parents told you? Because the bible itself to you?

Base your beliefs on reliable evidence and you'll get much farther in life and gain much more understanding of the world. Just look at science for example.

It's spiritual. Don't worry about it. Us Christian's in the West could be in N Korea, Sudan, China or some other wonderful place where 'attack' means something entirely different.

I think people attack people for believing in the bible because they may have come from different religions and they feel their belief is correct. Also they think reading of the bible can also disturb them. For example I am a Christian and my friend may be a traditionalist. The moment I am in his midst and I pray it disturbs him/her and that can cause my friend who is a traditionalist to disturb me. Thanks and I hope you will be okay with my answer

I don't attack people for believing in the bible. It's their right.

However if they use it in an inconsistent manner that reveals hypocrisy and personal prejudice just to condemn or infringe on the rights of someone else, I will not hestitate to use MY knowledge of scripture to rebutt their attempts.

Well, I consider all books to be human wisdom, and I consider the information in the Bible to be flawed... but I certainly don't mean to suggest that you should abandon your faith.
