Why do some people say they are Christian but can't explain the bible?
No the questions don't have anything to do with each other.

To answer your original question, I think that the answer may be that when the Empire was set up to begin with, they were on the side of good. The dark side corrupted the leaders and the stormtroopers were just following orders. (sounds like the Nazi Germany situation really)
As for your other question, many people who are raised in the Church, particularly the Catholic Church, know what they have been taught, and they do not study to determine why they believe, or are supposed to believe, what they are being taught. This is not a knock against any Church in particular, but I often have seen it in many Catholics I have met. The Bible tells us to be ready at all times to give an answer for the hope that lies within us and there are still many people of different Christian faiths who are able to do that. I hope that I am one of them because I have studied the Bible and want to be able to give answers. Hope this helps. Blessings.

Wow.... thats a good way to get attention for your Q.
Dont knok them to much on it. for one thing the bible is only a book. and its a contract.... a very long difficult contrat, but a contract.
When something goes wrong at work, and you feel you were mistreated do you go run to the contract and look up the exact scenario? no, you make a choice based on your judgement.
I think it is important that they have a working knowledge of the Bible, and if you have a specific question they should look it up and answer it. (my favorite joke is in the Recent Simpsons movie where Home is flipping through the Bible and says "This book has no answers") Finding percise answers from a book like the bible is very difficult. becuse there is a lot of reference work and contextual work involved.
Essentially my answer is becuse the book is so damn big and confusing and rarely says what it means.

The uniform for a stormtrooper is to eliminate his identity and make his just another living cog in the Empire's machine. The color is irrelevant.
