I think the Bible is most valuable today as a sort of text book for a way of life, and as a history book to show us how far we have come, and to remind us of the mistakes humankind has made before and must not repeat.

The bible was and is a political tool. The real meaning of the Bible is the power that it gave religious leaders over their populations. Nothing says lovin' like the threat of eternal damnation.
Historically speaking, until recently (in the last few hundred years), the church and state were inseparable. Religion WAS politics. The bible is simply a document of political power...this is why there is so much effort in the US to bring the religious right into politics...and so much effort to keep them out. It's something our founding fathers understood all too well...the problem of having relgion and the state indiscrete.

The bible is suppose to be a an instruction book for man to go by to live but many people dont believe in god so why would they care what the bible says!! Me personally I dont think it a book of instructions for man to live by. Life has no rules. Its the people who are in charge of where we live who give us what to follow. God put us on the earth to be free you have a choice to follow the bible and be religious many people just like to live life. People sin every where. Im sure you commited a sin in your life. So you are contradicting your self and trying to get on other peoples case when you are not a saint either. God forgives people with for their sins no matter what they do or dont do. Its o.k to live life on the edge ever once in a while The book is not a manuel to live its a way of life that you can choose to live no matter who you are.

The bible is not an instruction book. Also, it has been written and rewritten be men who didn't even live it. So, we know that some things in the bible were made up by man to put fear(False Evidence Appearing Real) into you. For instance, there is no hell, fire brimming lakes, Satan, etc. God accepts anyone, no matter how you CHOOSE to live.

Yes the bible is absolutely the guide for the real Christians to live as the Children of God...But not all people are Christians,Not all people go to church every sunday is a Christians .You can be a Christian if you accept the Lord jesus in your heart as your saviour and Lord and it follows a good work.Once you are Christian you must do good to glorify your father which is in heaven.
