The correct form is zopilote and it means "buzzard" in Mexican Spanish.

It's a loan word from the native Nahautl (or Aztec) language, "Tzopilotl."

Puerto Rican Spanish speakers use "buitre" for buzzard instead. In Standard Spanish, this bird is called "El Águila Ratonera" or the rat-hunting eagle.
