A reputable private investigator.
To be sure, criminal records are part of the public record, and you can research it yourself. But you would have to go to each individual jurisdiction to search for it. Adding to the difficulty is if your (soon to be) ex-spouse used aliases (false names and ID) you do not know about.
PI's can do a macro search that should include federal, state and municipal records nationwide--and eliminate any false positives.

My advice - don't marry someone you don't know much about next time! Get to know her family, friends, and collegues before you get hitched. Take time before you get involved - don't rush things.
2nd piece of advice - If she hasn't moved out already - make sure you are home when she does and after she leaves change all the locks. I made the mistake of not getting the day off work when a former boyfriend moved out of our apartment (on my request) and came home to a complete mess with lots of my stuff missing or destroyed!
You should be able to find out her background from the police - employers do background checks - so you should be able to also. Maybe your divorce lawyer knows the procedure and can help you.
Good luck!

Criminal records, unless sealed, are a matter of public record. Go to your local courthouse and talk to the Clerk. You will need a SSN and last name more than likely for a criminal background. Good luck =)

Why would you care? If she is not with you and your divorce is almost final, move on. Her background is hers alone. She has a criminal background which does not affect you at all. Let her be. I mean come on-are you trying to rub salt in her wounds still?! Move on. There are plenty of women out there for you to choose from. Just move on.

There are plenty of companies you can pay to run a criminal background check on people for a fee. All you need is DOB and SS#, last known address etc. Just google "background check" and you'll get plenty of hits.

Why at this point if you are getting a divorce does it matter. I mean if it affects money or credit I am not sure besides hiring a lawyer there is a whole lot you can do about it. I think a good place to start for you would be your local court house.

As someone mentioned, you can buy a criminal report online but (1) they will charge you for every little thing (2) the information may be about someone else entirely who has the same or similar name or alias. It can get expensive.

You can go one line and look up criminal records or records. It will show at no charge. But in all Honesty - If shes your soon to be ex wife. Just keep on walking and don't look over your shoulder. I would worry about it as long as it does not pertain to you.. your just looking for ammo to throw at her. If you want to rid her.. don't say anything, and keep on walking.
