I've pulled over as an off-duty EMT and done the whole Johnny Rescue thing too, without so much as a thank you at the end.
Realize that these people are far from at their best, and this omission is a natural one.
Realize that the cops are just focused on doing the job, and don't really have time for niceties.
The thing your BF has, regardless of thanks or not, is this. On depressing "downer days" like every human being has, when he's wondering what the hell difference he makes...he gets to say "because of me, someone has a pulse who might not have."
BTW, thank him for me. He not only kept the woman safe, he possibly prevented other risks to life and property that could have resulted by a chain collision. Bonus credit.

There is alot going on when you are in an accident. When the police show up they have alot to do, including making sure no further injuries occur due to people being in the way. They need to clear the scene ASAP and get it under control. What he did was selfless. He did it not to be thanked but because it was his duty to help people in need. He must have a very kind heart. I understand you feel he should have been thanked and I am sure many people sent up prayers doing just that after the fact.

He doesn't care because he did something that any decent human being would have done. He didn't do it to be a hero or get recognition - he did it because he's a nice guy and someone was in danger. It's a very commendable act - but let it go. The main thing here is that a life is saved.

Hmmm . . . sounds like you may live in Los Angeles. The cops there are stone cold and compliments are not one of their best assets. Regardless of that though, doing a good thing, or the right thing should be natural to all of us, not because of the rewards we receive by doing them. Sure, it's nice to get a pat on the back, but when we don't . . . so what? I'm certain that your boyfriend is feeling very positive about what he did and that, coupled with the fact that everyone is alright, everything turned out wonderfully!

A thank you is always a good ending to that kind of situation. Unfortunatley, in this day and age, it happens less and less. He can enjoy the knowledge that he did something unselfish for another person. In the end, when god weighs the pros and cons of your boyfriends life, sounds to me like he has a free pass thru the pearly gates.

He did a very good thing. He knows that, and I am sure that the lady he helped is very grateful. As for the police, well they were probably too busy to thank him.

YES! My dad is a good citizen, like your husband, and has helped pull dead bodies out of semi's at 5:00 AM before on the highway because people just drive way too fast. What the hell is wrong with the fuzz these days?!?! i think they got jealous that your husband stole their thunder. they wanted to be the heroes. ASSES

Well by moving the vehilces he made it impossible or near to impossible to form a police report,
but he likely saved that womans life.
He could have actaully been charged as bad as it sounds with tampering with evidence.
on a personal note it sounds like he was trying to do what he thought was best.

You know, it takes so little to say 'thanks' when people do something to help someone in need. Whether it's something as simple as holding a door open for someone who has their arms full, or something as major as what your BF did.
While we don't do these acts of kindness 'to be thanked' it is nice when someone does take a second or two to acknowledge us.
Your BF is in a service industry that is there to help people, so it's likely people just take it for granted that he's 'doing his job' even when it's above and beyond his job ~ like in this case. He probably enjoys helping people (he'd have to considering his work), so being thanked isn't important to him, but yes, I think he should have been thanked for his efforts.
