Because sometimes when bad things happen they are still God answering our prayers just not in the way that we as humans wanted them answered. As spiritual beings we should be trying to find the blessings that come from the hardships that we have to endure. Pope John Paul II said that after the terrible Tsumani that killed so many that it was because Gods love was so great that it spilled out and if you look at the results look how many people came together to help and show their love and compassion...

Well, both outcomes of the Good and Bad is God's will. God hears prayers, but if the "good" you are requesting is not what He has planned for you, and when the "bad" is the result, it is in His will for you to achieve something else you don't see. When ppl state "prayers are answered" when "good" happens, I believe that is their way of giving him the praise. On the otherhand, when the "bad" results, and "God's will..." is the answer, it is still giving God the acknowledgement, nothing is a mistake. Many blessings to you!

Faith, Believe it our not man spend to much time Turing to figure out the creator. A man can leave this life and pass on to the other side and his sons and daughters can gain a huge inheritance. The family morns not knowing death is just a transition into anther stage of life.So is death really a bad thing. One of his sons uses his inheritance on drugs are alcohol, so was that a good are bad thing. No man knows God's plan. We as spirits trapped in our fleshly shells are mere products of our surroundings. So we as men were called into the mirror of existence in order for God to behold god and we are going to as long as we live be put to test so when something happens and it seems to be bad I just hold on and keep the faith, maybe it's a test remember Job.

Most Christians are content with believing that life is all about trials, tribulation, blessings and curses. Personally, I believe that life is a lot of chance. It happens to us all; good, bad, ugly. The belief that our fates rest upon how well we do on the test rather than our own devices is beyond me.
The fact that many people who are fervent believers live in squander and are content with it because they believe that it's a test of faith or patience is out there. When I stopped taking the test and stopped praying, my life got easier. I no longer worry because I know there is no test to pass. It's just survival of the fittest.

It's how the sheeple wearing blinders explain the randomness of life. That way everything has an answer. People are afraid of the unknown and some would rather hide behind an ancient mythological daddy-figure in heaven than face the truth.

Great question. Because that is how they have been conditioned to respond by their church. Even if you were to ask a priest or even the pope he would respond in the same manner. Giving a different response would cause people MOST of them to turn away from religion. Therefore, this cop-out answer was invented to ensure people remained "loyal" to their religion.

Because scriptures tell us that every good gift comes from on high, and in life's trials and chastenings, God always has a purpose. .
