so who is right ? catholic on their belief ? or protestant ?

now there might be both saying that both could be saved because both doctrines accept jesus as their saviour.
but whose belief is right ?

after reading several protestant post and comments on websites and Y!A i have gotten the idea that protestant are 100% sure that their interpretation MUST BE CORRECT and that God MUST DO what they have interpret their bible to mean , and if a non-christian were to be saved , the God is not worthy of their respect

is that true?

i believe that both are saved as long its an internal thing and not just external ceremonies and traditions.

i personally think the Catholics complicate things. bind themselves to rules and regulations that are not necessary. The New Testament is all about loving God, loving your neighbor, and changing your life from the inside out. Its not about all these ceremonies, huge ornate churches and stuff like that.

I do believe that Catholics can be saved too. Absolutely. The ones who are doing the rituals with ther hearts and are truely seeking God are saved. The ones who are just going though the motions have had no heart change. So I would guess they are not saved.

but in the end, that is Gods choice. I have no right to judge people, nor does anyone else.

For the record, I am a non denominational protestant. meaning I am not Catholic and the church I go to does not have a group of old guys sitting in a room telling me what to believe. My church is not affiliated with a national denomination.

First, I will address the first issue regarding Catholic theology and Protestant theology.

Both, as you point out, "accept" Jesus as saviour. However, this is not the criteria!

Jesus states in Mt. 24 that religious leaders would come along, proclaiming rightly that Jesus is the Christ, then go about deceiving.

The difference is found in the gospel.

The gospel is, in essence, salvation knowledge. The gospel makes a declaration regarding what one must do in order to be saved. False gospels declare that something other than or added to the gospel's message of salvation is necessary for salvation.

The Catholic church is guilty of doing this, as well as some Protestant churches.

The Catholic church teaches that only Catholics can attain to salvation. This is adding to the gospel what is not in the gospel, and produces a false gospel.

Secondly, I am unaware of any church, Catholic or Protestant, that doesn't feel 100% they are correct, so your claim here is worthless.

As far as what the Bible means, people's beliefs will drive their understanding and interpretation of the Bible. It takes a great deal of dedication and study in order to sift out what is a preconceived idea that gets read into the Scriptures, and to see Scripture for what it truly says, without looking through the lenses of one's belief system.

Your last claim is also worthless, regarding Christians feeling God is not worthy of their respect should God save what is thought to be a "non-Christian." You would have to talk to everyone who is truly a Christian and poll them for their view on this in order to validate your claim.

It is written God justifies the ungodly. So a better question would be, who are the ungodly?

.

I HOPE not! So many Protestants have such skewed ideas about their Catholic bretheren! And no matter what ANYONE thinks, God IS worthy of all respect, honor, glory, and praise.

Transubstantiation simply accepts that God is capable of literally ANYTHING. Including speaking a thing into existence. Protestants seem to limit God to their understanding. They insist that the Eucharist crucifies Jesus again and again, never realizing that it merely CONNECTS US to the one and ONLY Sacrifice on Calvary.

Saints - All believers in Christ are considered saints in Scripture, therefore Catholic saints shouldn't be a problem to Protestants.

Praying to Mary - Unlike Protestants, Catholics recognize the difference between prayer (communication) and worship. Mary is NOT worshipped. We ask her to pray for us. Do Protestants NOT have others pray for them? Is God NOT a God of the Living?

Confession to a priest - "Recieve the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you shall forgive are forgiven." What more does this guy WAN???

Praying someone's soul into heaven? Where did he get that???.

Peter WAS the first pope. Jesus said that He would build the Church on him and the faith he displayed.

Catholics have SOME things right.
Protestants have SOME things right.
Everyone has SOME things right!
Catholics and Protestants have some
things in common. I am a protestant
and think that any Catholic who says
Jesus is God and have Jesus in their
life/heart is going to heaven.
Thier way of worship is different and I
don't agree with it, but if they know God,
that is all anyone really needs to know!!!:0)
The rest is learning and growing. Amen.

You are right about being saved if the doctrine accepts Jesus as the savior. But both beliefs are based so much on religion, false rituals, and tradition that it is all so unnecessary and distracts them from a true relationship with God. :o)

It is impossible to give a universal statement on the salvation of all members of any denomination of Christianity. Not ALL Baptists are saved. Not ALL Presbyterians are saved. Not ALL Lutherans are saved. Salvation is determined by personal faith in Jesus alone for salvation, not by titles or denominational identification. Despite the unbiblical beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church, there are genuine believers who attend Roman Catholic churches. There are many Roman Catholics who have genuinely placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. However, these Catholic Christians are believers despite what the Catholic Church teaches, not because of what it teaches. To varying degrees, the Catholic Church teaches from the Bible and points people to Jesus Christ as the Savior. As a result, people are sometimes saved in Catholic churches. The Bible has an impact whenever it is proclaimed (Isaiah 55:11). Catholic Christians remain in the Catholic Church out of ignorance of what the Catholic Church truly stands for, out of family tradition and peer pressure, or out of a desire to reach other Catholics for Christ.

Well I don't believe in the Pope, his infallibility and the Dictatorship all Catholic churches fall under in his legalistic doctrines and made up Council of Trent doctrines, how much they interfere with the public's decisions in voting and democracy etc... but that's just me, I don't believe that anyone is to be called father but God the father, nor that anyone should confess to a priest, as we are all believer priests (all who believe in the son and his absolution of sin) I don't believe that the added scripture, apostolic ??? were canon of scripture (council of trent again) nor that the Pope was Peter's successor, nor that Peter was infallible or was to rule the church.... etc... it's a bunch of hooooooo weeee.

I'm Catholic, & what the first poster said about Catholicism is totally untrue.

Everything the Catholic Church teaches is 100% Biblical.

Example forgiveness of sins by the priest is taught in the Gospel according to St. John, chapter 20.

The catholic faith is warped with man-made rules & idolatry

Examples:

Transubstantiation - Wrong. Christ does NOT literally become the bread & wine. The emblems have no saving value....what they represent is more important.

Saints - All believers in Christ are considered saints in Scripture

Praying to Mary - Totally unacceptable. We are to pray to God through Jesus Christ alone.

Confession to a priest - Wrong. 1 Timothy 2:5 says there is one mediator between God & man....the Man Christ Jesus

Praying someone's soul into heaven - Wrong. Hebrews 9:27 says that it is appointed for man to die once, after this...the judgment.

Peter was the first pope - Wrong. The office of pope is man-made. I don't look to the pope for leadership....I look to Christ.

Catholics...

Yeah, they've sold enough scraps of the shroud of Turin to cover a square mile. They've made things up called "indulgences" that allow you to sin without having to wait through limbo (yet another BS theory).

Oh, and they've also sold boxes and boxes of Jesus-fingers. Theres only ten...
