The name of the slow release iron supplement is named simply enough.."Slow FE". They are a little gentler on the stomach. I was anemic after my last pregnancy and the doctor suggested I eat red meat, organ meat (such as liver...blaaaah), shrimp, apricots and to cook what I can in a cast iron pan. Believe it or not, iron is released from the skillet into your food. You may also try increasing your fluid intake..drink more water.
Hope you do better!

It's a good idea to have vitamin C with iron supplements, as the body needs it to absorb iron into the bloodstream. However, if it's still upsetting your tummy I recommend getting the iron naturally.

You don't have to eat liver, red meat in general has iron in it (the bloodier the better - cos it's in the haemoglobin in blood), however, I wouldn't eat too much of it because of the saturated fat.

You can get iron from fresh spinach leaves - eat them in a salad every day and im sure this will help your iron intake.

Here's some more info, and a list of iron rich foods: http://www.bloodbook.com/iron-foods.html

Hope that helps!

Cream of wheat has 30% of the Iron you need in a day...also try taking a muliti vitamins that contain less iron then the tablets...My mom get sick too from the iron pills too. I guess you could also get iron shots if you want a quick fix to low Iron. My mother had them like 10 years ago and she wasn't animic again untill like 2 years ago... She doesn't want the shots again but I'm not sure why...So yeah, hope that helps!

You can also find alot of iron in lean red meat, whole-grain breads and cereals, rice, pasta, nuts, broccoli and spinach.
I think they have a slow release iron pill (sorry can't think of the name).
Increase water and fiber because iron pills can give you constipation.
