Because they stupid, that's all. Just because they born here - by accident - they think they own this part of the earth. Maybe they should also do the same work some illegals do, like the local diner here, this poor guy who works 50 hours for $300. I wonder how many "legal" would do it....

Usually, people will assume that if you are radically PRO-illegal aliens, you either ARE an illegal alien or have one in the family. Most LEGAL immigrants tend to be very anti-illegal aliens.

If we are talking about you, specifically, I would guess that people make assumptions based on your various questions and answers here. As your questions deal with 245i (our original "shamnesty" law...back in the Reagan days), they are all aware that you came here illegally. You may be trying to rectify things now, but you aren't going to find much sympathy for that. Most of us still consider you a "line jumper".

Of course, you should have filed that 245i back in 2000...maybe into 2001 (it seems like I remember an extension at one time).

They're not ignorant, you are. You came here illegally, and have "applied" (or, take the APP off, and just LIED) for residency...while you are in the US? Sorry, but you need to return to your country of origin and endure the process while there, NOT HERE. Unless, of course, you have no respect for OUR laws, in which case you stay until ICE comes and throws you in jail with the rest.

Apply for what, exactly? A job? Citizenship? A loan? You really need to be specific. If it's a job, and you were asked for several forms of identification proving your citizenship - guess what? We ALL have to. I've had to provide, variously, birth certificate, drivers license, passport, military ID, social security card - you name it, it has been asked for. They may not think you're illegal - but, by law, they have to demand proof. So, if you are legal, get over it. If you aren't, get that way.

To be a legal citizen, the process starts when you are still living in your country, not when you come over here. If you're here without applying and receiving a green card or other permission to come over then you are illegal.

Well, if you entered the country illegally and you apply for citizenship, then you are still illegal. You go through the process from the country of origin. Or enter the country with permission. I think it is more ignorant for people to think they can enter the country without permission and expect rights and privileges handed to them.

This makes no sense, you have to be outside the country to apply

For most people (specially in this post) all Hispanic, Latin, Mexican or brown are illegal.

It's probably due to the curse of stereotyping. Do you fit into any illegal alien stereotypes?

More effort to acculturate may solve this problem.

Good luck.
