do the people touch your id or hold it or do u just show them and thats it? its a weird question but i'd love it if u helped? thank you!

i just turned 18 and was curious because i have this thing called Obssessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD, and i hate touching anything someone else has touched

Yes, they take it from you and check it out. Some don't even take it when they see you've got it, but most check.
Got a fake id eh? Should get em off nextdayids.com, they're really good, mine works in most off-licenses. Not usually supermarkets though. Dunno what I'd do without it!
And yo, American, off license means a 'liquer store'! It your terms, jeez, we know all your words....

I used to work in a shop, and if people really did look too young then I would check the age properly - so I might hold it - and if I thought maybe they looked the right age but wanted to check, then just the fact that they bought ID with them was enough and I didn't bother looking. Why, do a lot of people hold yours or something?

You should clarify your question; what do you mean by 'off license'? Some people need to look at your id up close to inspect it to ensure it's authentic. Most people will want to actually hold your piece of id in their hand as they study it, and might think it's a little strange if you don't want to hand it over. Unless you think the person is going to take it away, and in that case you shouldn't be using it there.

My ID is in my wallet with that clear plastic window. It's only been a handful of times I've been asked to remove it so they can hold it and check the DOB. Because it's usually dark. I'm lucky enough to still be ID'ed at 34. I think it's a great compliment.

Some will take a glance while you hold it, just to check it, some people will hold it so they can look closely, either so they can see it easier, so they can double check it, if they have bad eyesight, or just to check that it's not a printout stuck on something or similar.
It totally depends on the person checking it, some hold it, some just look and some don't even bother looking.

I don't know. once an off-licence worker asked for my I.D.though I have white hair.They are sometimes anti-drink and sometimes pro.I have a student card and that was what I used.
