We use Florida pest control on a monthly basis and we never get any fleas or bugs of any kind. Saves on bombs, etc.
I would get the cat shampoo at Petco or Petsmart or even Walmart. Just be sure to wash her once before the house is done, then again after the house is done.

This is common... We moved to a new house and the house was completely infested with fleas.. From the previous owners pets.. So, I bought some baking soda/iodized salt from the wholesale club... A couple of cheapie flea collars and some ZODIAC drops from PETSMART/PETCO... I sprinkled the carpets with BS/SALT mixed. The BS will smother and kill live fleas/larve. The salt punctures the eggs.. The BS/SALT also deodorize/freshen the carpets and pull out any loose dirt.. Plus, it's really cheap at the wholesale club.. About $5 for 12 lbs. of BS and $3 for Salt.. Let it sit on the carpets overnight.. Put the cheapie flea collars in your vacuum bag/cansiter and vacuum really, really well and dispose of contents outside.... Vacuuum everyday for acouple weeks.. Use the BS/SALT combo about every 2 weeks... You can bathe your cat in dishsoap like DAWN or even regular shampoo works to kill the fleas... The ZODIAC drops work very well and are a lot cheaper than FRONTLINE/ADVANTAGE.. Give it acouple weeks and then "test" the house. .Put a desklight shining into a white bowl with about 1/2 inch of water and dishsoap... The fleas are attracted are will jump in and drown... If you STILL see critters then flea bomb your house.. RAID makes a good multipack for around $20

Sprinkle salt on EVERY square inch of your carpet. This will dehydrate the fleas & kill them. Leave if for a few days, then vaccum REALLY good throughtout the house.

Let a few more days pass & vaccum again. I guarentee you will see the dead/dying fleas in your vaccum dust container.

Make sure you get rid of all the fleas on the pet as well. A regualr bath will do wonders. Even if its not a highy expensive shampoo, a regular flea shampoo will suffocate the fleas while bathing.

After a bath, be sure to brush all the dead/dying fleas off of your pet.

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets. More information on getting rid of fleas is available at http://pests.in/fleas.html

NO u need to treat the pet and the home chemically. If the pet is allowed outside to run, ur wasting ur time. pet needs to stay indoors and all is to be treated. Home remedies (like salt or boric acid etc) help but do not cure the problem
