Why can't I record audio from my speakers?

I used to use CamStudio but since I got a laptop upgrade it won't record from my speakers even if i select 'Record audio from Speakers.' I've tried Audacity but it doens't work either..both of those application record my microphone even if I put it on mute. Do I need a different sound card? I don't know why it won't work!

The up-grade may have re-set your audio settings back to some default. Try opening your vol. control panel, chose options and re-set your record functions back to how you had them before.
