My 5 month old kitten is a completely indoor cat. About a month ago he got outside and got fleas. Since then we have given him two flea baths, MULTIPLE dustings with flea powder and a Hartz gel treatment. Thus right now, he still has a couple fleas. Everything we use on him and our carpet says it kills fleas and larvae plus eggs and the shampoo says it keeps flea eggs from hatching for a month, which is pretty much what the gel treatment says too. I am really not prepared for this ongoing epidemic right now and I don't think it's fair to the cat to keep him locked away from my kids and their toys and also not fair to keep this problem around my kids. I don't have the money at this moment to get something like advantix and even if I did, at this point I don't know if it would work given everything else we've done.

You need to take the kitten to the vet and get Frontline treatment. It will continue to kill any fleas that get on him for a month, plus eggs and larve and fleas that are already on him. You put a new treatment on each month.

Well, different products have different strengths... I've tried the HARTZ products and they just don't work.. .I've had better luck with the ZODIAC products from Petsmart/Petco.. Also, I used baking soda mixed with iodized salt to rid the carpeting of fleas/eggs... It's non-toxic and very, very cheap.. I bought a 12 lb.bag of baking soda from the wholesale club for about $5 and a restaurant size box of salt for about $3.. Sprinkle on the carpet and leave overnight... The BS smothers the fleas and larve. The salt dissolves the eggs... If you have a canister vac put a cheapie flea collar in the cansiter and vacuum really, really well and dispose of contents outside... If you have bags put the bag in the freezer and discard... Also, the BS/Salt will absorb odors and pick up any loose dirt in your carpet.. You'll see the poweder turns from white to brown or grey... So, it's cheap, non-toxic and serves double duty.... Vacuum your carpets everyday.. I use BS/SALT about once every couple of weeks.. .You can also give kitty a bath in regular shampoo or even dishsoap.. That will also kill any fleas... Fleas are also attracted to light colored bowls with 1/2 of water w/ a dash of dishsoap... Shine a desk light into in and they will jump to their death... !!! I do this to check for the little buggers.... If the problem persists you may have to "Flea Bomb" the house... Raid makes a good multipack available at home depot.. .Good luck

The Frontline spray is pretty cheap. Try that. It and Advantix both work really well. They both work way better than over the counter flea powders and spray (with Hartz you might as well be spritzing water on the fleas).

Try the Frontline spray. Then bomb your home. Vacuum it and throw the bag into the trash. Take all the kitten's bedding and other things it likes to sleep on and wash it all.
