than human? my dog(a golden) has very short breathe, i assume the heart beat is also faster or my dog has some problems?

Dogs heart beats are different than humans. They are more erratic and can be quite a bit faster. They aren't the slow steady beats like a human.
If you are worried, have a vet listen to it to be sure.

They are nothing like a human as they can go from slow to incredibly fast. They are this way because they used to be wild and can go from sitting quietly to running full blast in seconds. The heart will change rates very quickly too. If you think you want to get checked by a vet, that thought is usually right.

Generally speaking (maybe not always so), the smaller the animal, the faster the heartbeat. Children's heartbeats are faster than that of an adult, a hummigbird's heartbeat is much faster than an elephant.

Yes, dogs do vary from humans. Here is an example taken out of my Vet Tech study book.

Temperature: Average: 101.5, high average: 102.5 and low average: 99.5

Pulse: Average: 90, high average: 120 and low average:60 per minute.

Respiration: Average: 20, high average: 30 and low average: 10 per minute.
