I have a problem with a company that gives US jobs away to a communist country that treats it's emplyees like shi_. And then when it is brought to their attention that the toys that are made there can cause serious harm to US kids doesn't do anything about it for months. All for the bottom line! That is sick!

How funny it is now how they beg us for their business. Will you buy Mattel toys for your children?

I own a toy store and we don't deal with Mattel, so the answer is no.

There are some brands we carry that are made in China, however. We have Thomas trains, some of which were recalled. But the manufacturer reacted quickly to recall them.

It's tough to be a small manufacturer of toys these days. You can either have the toys made in the US or other country with ethical practices and raise the price. Or roll the dice with china and have low prices.

The real problem is that most consumers will do anything to save money on their kids' toys.

It's ironic that they won't spend ten dollars more for a safe toy for their kid, but will spend tens of thousands of dollars extra to buy a monster truck to tote the kids around in.

Unless the kid is sucking on this metal toy for all day the chances are slim anyway, but I was a part of the recall for James (Thomas the Tank Engine) and I finally received the train back last week (talking 8 weeks) and it's my sons fave toy. I'm not sure really how i feel about it all but it's making me think.

I will if it's something that my child is interested in. At Walmart stores they have taken all the bad toys off the shelves and if by chance one slips, the cash register won't let the cashier ring it up.
Little kids don't understand politics. They only understand that there's a cool toy that they want.

Not for a long time. I am a daycare provider and I threw away about $500.00 worth of toys just b/c I wanted to be sure. It's not worth it.

WITH MOST OF OUR JOBS OUTSOURCED TO CHINA, INDIA AND MEXICO, THERE IS LITTLE YOU CAN DO IF YOUR CHILD INSISTS ON A PARTICULAR TOY. IF WE ALL GOT TOGETHER AND INSISTED ON AMERICAN MADE. IT WOULD DO A WHOLE LOT FOR THE COUNTRY.
