It's like the food has been hiding in the back and I have to throw it out because it's old. I feel awful about it. I clean my fridge every 2 weeks or so and end up throwing so much stuff out, bread especially.

I don't know how much you eat, but what about getting some of your groceries at dollar stores. If you get away from name brand foods and just get store brand you save more money and can have more food. Though I won't lie with this economy my food amount that I buy has been reduced. So i've been buying cheap cans of soup, store brand ravioli (it's better than the name brand in my opinion), the cheapest bread and basically anything that's the cheapest. Am I embarrassed by this? Heck no, food is food so long as its edible.

I always buy food that lasts a couple of weeks. I won't even buy food if the food that's in the refrigerator and the freezer is gone. Therefore, I never throw anything away. Whenever I have something left over, I would think of something that I can incorporate the food into.

I hate it too. I kick myself for not using things that are available instead of going out and buying more food. I'm trying to get better about it. Or like, not eating all the leftovers. I've been trying to freeze whatever I can. But then I forget it's in the freezer and make something else. Then I go for a red bell pepper or jalapeno and find out they're moldy. Then I kick myself again for buying too much.

Something that's really been helping is that I track my groceries in Excel. I can look at it and go "I bought cilantro 4 days ago? I forgot it was there! I better use it tonight!"

I hate throwing out food. There are so many hungry people in the world and we have so much and foreget it's in the back of the fridge and then gets thrown out. I love leftovers my wife throws out food before I can even say "I'll have it tomorrow". But yeah I hate to waste food and throw food out. Maybe that's why I'm 350lbs. lol.

If you check your fridge more often you will not have to waste food by throwing the food out. So my answer is no because I don't waste food.

Nah,

I feed the bread to the ducks or birds, bad fruit and other stuff goes into the garden. Any mold I find gets heated to 212 degrees and mixed into Amoxcillin for the kids.
