I know this word from the lyrics of the Pearl Jam's song "Corduroy", which says "I'll take the Varmint's path"
What does this word mean in isolation and in this context?

A "varmint" is a small animal that is a pest, like raccoons, skunks, squirrels, prairie dogs, coyotes, etc. That are legal to shoot on sight in many states.
In the context of the Pearl Jam song, he's saying he wants to be a nuisance to society.
