For those Christians that were saved later in life( after childhood ). What was it that finally broke the camels back, a traumtic event?, a revelation? I really want to know.

thank you to those who have shared something so personal.
I ask because for me it was lack of faith and which faith that made the difference.
I grew up Christian but left the church in my teens opting instead for atheism. My life neither went up or down it simply stagnated. After turning to the occult my life has greatly improved. I am involved in my community, I am a single father, I work, I am going to college.

I kept seeking actual truth. It took me a very long time but I found it in the last place I thought it was. Jesus.
I was in the back yard having a cigarette on Christmas break from work and was looking up at the stars. I was thinking. "All I want for Christmas is to finally find actual truth". I said it sort of joking and I got a response. It was so clear in my mind that I was scared and all it said was. "Merry Christmas Lance." I had been running away from Jesus so long that I had forgotten that he was the only real truth I ever found. He came and found me again. Once you have been touched by GOD then there is no turning back. Unless you are very foolish.
You asked. I Answered :)

have you wondered why God sent Jesus down to earth as a poor helpless baby? He IS God!! of all methods, and he had to chose this way..?
its for us.. he came and willingly experience everything we go through.. when u ask if God knows you're lonely, or if he knows the feeling of being betrayed, of the feeling of being popular, pain, sadness, overwhelming joy, he knows every inch of every one of the human feelings.
he died the most painful death, slowly, and torturing.. not one small inch of his body was not bruised and severely whipped and cut, over and over again.. the crucifixion was a lot worse..
when he say it is finished in john 19:30, he meant he has purchased us back from the power of the devil, paid in full price!! it wasn't cheap.. salvation comes to us for free because He paid the price..
we can be saved today and still stay saved tomorrow.. people are not perfect, its a fact. when you sin again tomoro, aks for forgiveness and repent! dont do the same mistake twice.. pray to God to not put u to the test.. sometimes, its his idea to put you into alot of trials that could make you go astray.. but he also gives you unlimited forgiveness..
he never gives you trial without being there with you.. have faith!! its not easy.. he never said it was.. infact, he said tht a life walking with him is much more dificult.. ^.^ he also said it would be much, much, more abundant and joyful and fulfilling!!

I was saved 2 yrs. ago. I realize now that all the bad things that have happened to me was satan having fun. That's what he loves to do. I cried out to God while I was lying in bed one night. I asked HIm to take over because I couldn't do it anymore. I'm not saying I don't go through problems. I do. Because when you give your life to God satan is right there to try and discourage you. Since then my husband was healed of kidney cancer which is pretty much alway's fatal. I was facing knee replacement at 45 yrs. old. I'm happy to say God took care of that too. I could go on and on about the many things God has done for me and my family. I recommend Him to everyone!!! Visit an Assembly of God church in your area. you will start to understand.

To be honest, I always believed in God and I believed that Jesus was the son of God, but that is just about all I knew. I didn't start studying the bible until someone took me to a good bible teaching church, and I was 45 years old. I began bible study, that was ten years ago. I would say what has made the difference is bible study, actually studying in depth the books of the bible. That is how I came to believe that it is, as it claims, "given by inspiration of God". I am very grateful for this knowledge God has given me.

Predestination! God has a plan. Jeremiah 29:11. God gives us and expected end. God makes things happen and he directs our steps. We are Gods choice. We can do nothing without him. Christians still struggle with sin. It is God whom is faithful not we ourselves. Man in himself is capable of anything. God sent his son to die for us. John 17. Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith. So we take no credit for what the Lord has done in us. God give us a glimpse of himself throughout our lives and soon we are like the prodigal son we remember the days we seen him coming in our lives. We surrender to him. Oh taste and see that the Lord he is good. God gives us a taste. It is then that we began to long for him. He loved us first,so we love him. Wisdom proverbs chapter 1.

hi, for me it was a life of destruction and bitter feelings and hate. I hated everything and everyone especially myself I was on drugs I was a drunk I tired to kill myself several times in a year but in all reality drug addiction and alcoholism is a form of suicide and I just got tiered of being sick and tired so may be it was a traumatic event or it was the end of a long and ugly life style so every one has their own story to tell and mine is like many. I one day decided to call out to God and ask for help and sure enough he answered me with all the love his word says he has for us. Life is to short to live it UN-loved.
GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU.
SEEK JESUS FIRST IN ALL YOU DO.

i don't believe in "once saved, always saved." that concept is ridiculous to me. we are imperfect people, who need to be CONSTANTLY walking in righteousness. there are no guarantees that what we do today, we will do tomorrow. Satan is busy at work trying to distract us and make us stumble. not that he will succeed, but he has succeeded in making many get off the road to life.
my point is that, it's work. you can't be saved today & expect to be saved tomorrow. we're not perfect.
but what convinced me that there is only one true religion and only one way to worship God is the Bible. and any Bible contains the Truth, it's just a matter of reading it daily & understanding it the way that it is meant to be understand, because many interperet it to their CONVENIENCE. worship should not be CONVENIENT. we should worship the only True God the way he expects to be worshipped.
