Mark 3:28 "I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

Biblical interpretation problem here. In 1 John 1:9, we learn that "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

I'm interested in a further explication of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. What would be an exemplary case that would show us why it is unforgivable?

Most biblical scholars agree that Jesus' death on the cross was the perfect sacrifice that can forgive any sin no matter how repugnant- except the sin of rejecting that forgiveness.

The differing consequences of sinning against either Jesus or the Holy Spirit is not about the Holy Spirit being more sensitive to insult. Jesus is referring to their roles in the Godhead. If you reject the work of salvation performed by Jesus initially, you are not cut off. Jesus will continue to try and reach you through the Holy Spirit. You might have many chances to accept Him. However, if you continue to reject the work of the Holy Spirit by silencing your conscience, you will find it easier and easier to do over time. Eventually you will grieve the Holy Spirit to the point it can longer reach you. When you completely reject the Holy Spirit you will have "seared your conscience as with a hot iron." You will be unforgivable because you will never feel the need or desire to ask for forgiveness.

Blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is the Unforgivable sin. It doesn't matter how much he repents. He will spend eternity with Satan and Cain.

No, that person cannot be forgiven. Many people feel "guilty" or convicted that they have blaspheme against the Holy Spirit when they really haven't. If you feel convicted, then the Holy Spirit has not left you.

The question is what is that blasphemy exactly...serve the Lord...if you have the heart to serve Him and Love and accept Him and the Holy Spirit...there is hope that you have not committed this sin.

What is blasphemy, and why is the Holy Spirit more sensitive to it than God or Jesus? Does he get his feelings hurt easily, or what?

I think this sin is not commited so lightly that you can repent of it. It is opposing God to death!

Do not risk it. Repent and be saved NOW!!!
