I want to be healthy for my kids. I am desperate. I don't know how to eat healthy because I am not a big vegetable or fruit fan. I need to lose about 75 pounds. I don't eat breakfast and I am on the go all the time. Please help! I am 29 years old and married with two beautiful children.

I had the same problem. After I had my daughter my mother talked me into joining weight watchers. OK WAIT BEFORE YOU STOP READING THIS. I thought the same thing. However, WW is the ONLY thing I have ever been able to stick to. It is totally simple and I have lost 32 lbs in 15 weeks. I love it. I really learned what healthy calorie intake looks like, portion sizes and how much crap I was actually eatting and why I got so fat. I am tellin you you should definately do it you would love it. You can still eat ANYTHING you want but you only get so many points per day. I am still going and i have 50 more lbs to loose and my goal is to do that in the next 8 months. I have already gone down 4 pants sizes and I am back into my clothes that I haven't been able to wear since before I got pregnant with my son three years ago. I am here if you have more questions or if you join I would love to be your accountability partner. vincentb6521@yahoo.com amanda

Besides eating breakfast (you can grab a breakfast bar on the go, or a cup of nonfat yogurt) make sure you try to count your calories. if you cant find it on the label, just search google for the calorie content.

A salad i like (lettuce free!) I peel and slice up a cucumber, slice up some tomato put it in a plate, drizzle a LITTLE bit of olive oil (extra virgin is better) and some vinegar (you can also try balsamic vinegarette) sprinkle some salt, pepper and you got a salad!

Try Fish. Fish is very good for you, its not as fatty as meat.

Most importantly its about portion control. Its hard to ajust to at first, but once you get used to it its not bad at all. for your dinner, your meat should be the size of a computer mouse, your grain should be the size of your fist, and your veggies can really be larger because they are low calorie (if not fried or cooked in heavy oils) and can take up the rest of the plate.

I always try to eat a salad before dinner so i don't eat seconds. And believe me, growing up in an Italian household, food was constantly plentiful. It takes will power.

If you don't eat breakfast, your body stores fat as it thinks it is "starved". The only diet that really works for me - and can definitely be a lifestyle change - is low carb, high protein. The body needs protein. I bought a book listing foods & what calories, carbs, etc each has. Eventually you know approx what everything is. What is great is you can have bacon & eggs for 0 carbs. It is recommended that you stay under 60 carbs a day & I try not to go below 40 as ketones build up in your body causing bad breath. It is a very easy way of life to adapt to. Plus, you can drink on it - cocktails with diet pop or water are 0, wine is minimal.
Good for you in addressing the health issue!!!

You will not have belly issues until you will have an ulcer. What you're going to have is a few dangerous gasoline for a time even as your frame adjusts to having such a lot of extra vegetables in it. The cause for that is sensible. If you ever took bio in top tuition you don't forget that plant cells have a phone wall round them. That phone wall may be very difficult to digest and for that reason factors you a bit of of gasoline while you consume it. This is why cows and horses have a couple of stomachs, to digest all that plant subject. get your self a few beano, or gasoline ex.

Try Weight Watchers. It's been around forever and is more of a lifestyle change then a quick fix. Atkins, South Beach and others are good too, but very restricting and if you go back to your old ways you'll gain it all back plus more. With WW you'll still be able to eat your favorite foods in moderation so you can still cook and eat what you make for your family. It teaches you portion control and how to cut calories and fat. They have an online program if you can't make it to meetings.

First of all EAT BREAKFAST. Even if you are on the go, take a protein bar with you and munch it on the way. Eat smaller portions, avoid excess sugar (no more dollar store candy bars lol) and try to get more exersize. Be patient and change your habits for a lifetime of better health, not just for the moment. You have to be serious, and you will succeed. Good luck, I am right there with ya, but have a thyroid problem that makes my efforts seem in vain.

First step: EAT BREAKFAST! I don't care if it's a granola bar or just a piece of toast...EAT SOMETHING.

1) it kick starts your metabolism
2) if you wait until you are hungry to eat, then you will eat more and eat whatever is available

Get your family involved. Even if they aren't overweight, it's good to do things as a family, and it will help your efforts. Take family walks, play with your kids, go swimming.

All in all, lots of little things will add up, but nothing works like steady exercise and a healthy diet.

Count your calorie intake. Start a journal ASAP. That will make you realize your problems with eating. Try to reduce your intake to 900 calories per day, then slowly increase each month until your reach your goal weight. Strong endurance is key, don't fall off the wagon.

Good luck!
Lettuce is poor anyway, try spinach or something dark and leafy. High protein like chicken or lean beef is good.
