My cat has been suffering for over two years now. He had a tumor behind his eye that made his eye swell up and the side of his face...we had his eye removed and we thought we got the tumor out, but its back again and BIGGER then ever. My dad insists that the cat is not in any pain, but everytime I look at him i know he is hurting horribly. The tumor has made the side of his head bulge out at least 3 inches, and it is now creeping over to the other eye. I want to put my cat down so he won't be in pain anymore(we aren't giving him any medicine at all, and the vet said there is nothing else they can do), but my dad will not let me. He keeps telling me that Tumors don't hurt that cat, and that he wants him to die a peaceful death. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me prove that this tumor is putting my cat in a lot of pain, so I can help him stop stuffering. I normally wouldn't want to put my cat down, but if you saw him you would understand.
What i'm asking for is Proof that tumors hurt cats.

yes the tum our is hurting your cat and if your dad wont put the cat down them he is being cruel to the cat,
a human being with cancer that cant be cured is not left to die they are treated with morphine to ease the pain, please talk some sense into your dad ,tell him if it was him and he had cancer would he want to be left to die, just because its an animal it does not mean your dad can be cruel to it
if your dad still wont listen contact your local SPCA and report your dad cruel it might seem but no animal deserves to die in pain,

First of all, if you have a good vet, being put down IS a peaceful death for an animal. The animal is sedated first and you can spend some time with him. Then you should leave when the vet comes back to put him down.
HOWEVER: If your cat is eating regularly and still using the litter box and is affectionate and social, and if he doesn't spend 23-1/2 hours a day hiding and sleeping--i.e. if besides the tumor you notice no physical changes and no "personality" changes, then he is very likely not in pain!
An cat in pain will not eat. He will hide in the closet. He will either be totally limp when you try to move him, or he will try to scratch and bite you. If the tumor is bothering him, he will continually swipe at it with his paw or rub his head until he bleeds. If there is an infection (e.g. the tumor is pressing on his nasal passages and blocking them), he will start to smell very bad too.
I put down my first kitty when he could no longer eat or use the litter box due to a tumor on his hip (he was 13). My second kitty had a tumor in her face that bothered her even before it was visible--she was swiping and pawing at her face for months before we could see the swelling. At a certain point she stopped eating and the vet prescribed glucosamine, which made her more comfortable for a few more weeks. But then a week went by and she didn't eat and two days with no water, and that's when I put her down (she was 16). It is very sad to lose your kitty.

As the other person said, if your cat is not acting normally it's probably in pain.
Things like not eating or drinking, hiding, wailing/howling, listlessness, any changes in its normal behavior, or if just not acting like a cat, it's probably in pain.
You could also get your vet's opinion. They'll have a good idea whether or not the cat is in pain.
And it wouldn't hurt to try another vet as well. Perhaps there is something that can be done for it that your regular vet hasn't thought of or doesn't know about.

Any CEO of a automobile condominium company. When the bottom rate for one week begins out at $192 and finally ends up at $298, it's time for a few critical head thumping. To upload insult to this, improvements which might upload an additional $one hundred are outrageous. All of those have been provided at the side of the substitution of a automobile no longer the primary alternative. Add $6.ninety nine in keeping with gallon for gas expenditures. If I concept Washington state was once pricey, So. Calif. tops it. Thanks for letting me rant.

Your dad is being a schmeggege about this. This tumor is likely putting a lot of pressure on the cat's eyes and sinuses and blood vessels, which is painful.

Your dad is living in a state of denial. I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty, though. Enlist the vet, since Dad isn't listening to you.
I will tell you: I've had kitties who have died of cancer. Toward the end, they would hurt so much that they would cry. They would get so weak that they couldn't wash themselves. One even suffered paralysis in her back legs from a blood clot that had broken loose and lodged against her spine. The kitties couldn't eat and keep food down. It hurt at the time- but it was a kindness to let them go.
Show this to your dad and ask him if that's what he wishes for your friend.
Again, I am so sorry to hear about your cat.

If the cat isn't eating or drinking normally, goes off to hide or their normal behavior has changed, the cat is in pain.

what do you think?
blow what your dad thinks, get the cat to the vet!
he's suffering a great deal of discomfort if not any pain!
your dad isn't a vet so what would he know!
