how to turn a section of a DVD into a windows media player clip for a power point?

I want to use some dvd clips for powerpoints but have yetto master this one, any help out there? I know mac's make it easy but I don't have one yet.

DVDx allows you to convert DVD to VCD2.0 or SCVD1.0 or DiVX (AVI) or Windows Media (WMV) in one step (including multiplexing, splitting).

Remember to convert your DVD to WMV so it is compatible with PowerPoint. You can then use Windows Movie Maker to "edit" the WMV to "cut out" the clip you would like to show.
