The Traditional Siamese is an intelligent, people-oriented cat which enjoys human companionship - whether it be as a lap warmer or chasing a toy. They are inquisitive and friendly, and like nothing better than to sit in the middle of something you are trying to read. They talk to their people in an affectionate, conversational way.
With their calm temperaments, they are well-adapted to life in either a house or an apartment. They are not in perpetual motion - they have a fairly balanced activity level and are just as happy to chase a toy as to curl up in your lap for a snooze.

Not a whole lot of difference between a pure-bred Siamese than a run-of-the-mill mixed breed EXCEPT: A Siamese tends to be more "stuck-up", and they are VERY "mouthy"--and LOUD. They can be exceptionally loving or very distant. This depends a great deal on how YOU raise the cat. If you can put up with all the noise (and their cry is LOUD, long, frequent and sounds like they're in a great deal of pain) then, go for it. I prefer mine on the slightly quieter side.

As you can see by the answer, siamese are just like every other cat--except more talkative. I've had a half siamese and now a full siamese and both carry on conversations with you, will walk in and demand your attention and will talk until they get it. But both were male too so that's part of it. Both were super affectionate, just LOVED to be loved and cuddles and hugged, wanted to curl up on my lap but were just too big (but they try anyway). And they have such lovely blue eyes, sigh. Mine have never been snooty at all, or stuck up. They've been the most people friendly cats we've ever had, seem to like interacting with people, love to play. And are goofy, do goofy things and don't seem to mind when you laugh at their antics (it's more "oh good, I got their attention").

My mother had a half-Siamese kitty. He was very vocal, and very loyal and protective of her. Since then, I've read a number of articles that say that that's pretty much the norm for Siamese.

Much like people, cats' personalities vary pretty widely, though there are some breed characteristics you can rely on. Siamese and most of the Oriental ilk are generally very outgoing, social, a trifle bossy and mouthy. You should look deep into your soul and examine whether a yakkity cat is personally tolerable.

Very affectionate, long lifes, very playful. Only draw back to a Siamese is tha they CAN be very vocal which can become annoying.

My daughter has two of them and I love them! They are so sweet and loving. The first one we got is very attached to my daughter. She follows her everywhere and loves to sit in her lap. Both of them are very loud. They meow a lot when they want attention, but it never bothers me.
