you can take some flowers, or food if you like.
yes, let her know you are sorry for her loss, and also that you Will do anything you can to help her in this time... maybe that will help?

Times of great loss can often help people to put the little issues in life in a better perspective. Be with her, suport her as best as you can and feel comfortable doing. This situation should serve as a reminder to you both that we're all only here for a limited time. You can choose to enhance each other's lives or at least live in some relative form of peace. I wish you both the best of luck!

Sometimes it's not what you say, it's what you do. Give her a hug or a pat on the back to let her know you care even though you may have always seen eye-to-eye. Flowers are always a nice gesture.

Your instincts are admirable. Take it from somebody who has lost mother-in-law, mom, dad, stepson and just this week brother-in-law (all of that in 3 short years).
Your expression of sympathy, whether it is flowers, a card or just being there, will be appreciated.

when death comes in all old feelings of ill will should go out(at least temporarily) and just your presence should be enough to show you care...be a good ear to listen...if she wants to talk..a shoulder to lean on...and who knows you two might just become friends after this...death does bring people together.

She's not going to be looking for anything from you other than your company. You could send a card if you want.

You should pay your respects for all the reasons you just mentioned. It would be appreciated more than you know.
