surely what they mean to say is thet THINK god exists, as there is no physical evidence it is completely impossible to know for sure weather he exists or not, dont you agree
please dont preach or say something ridiculas like our existance is proof cause it isnt until every other possibility is ruled out, think about what the englush language actually means before you use it

It's about personal feelings and the social environment of religion. If everyone believes in the same supernatural thing, the effect can feel very powerful.
That being said, feelings don't count as evidence. I don't think it's impossible to know whether a god or not exists, just impossible to get a 100% certainty, as with every idea. I vote that a god does not exist and is in the mind of believers.

My slant is that people who KNOW God exists feel Him in their own subjective experience (perceptions). Such people are deluded and choose to believe that the basis of reality is human perception (See Aristotle, Solipsism). Sometimes obsolete ideas become very deeply incorporated into our culture.
[For example, the idea that the heart is the seat of human emotions and virtue was totally discredited when William Harvey published his findings, about 1628, and proved the heart was merely a blood pump. Nevertheless, nearly four-hundred years later, ignorant folks continue to insist that the heart remains the basis of virtue and emotion.]
The idea that human perception forms the basis of reality is another such persistent erroneous idea. Solipsism is alive and well and continues to corrupt the thinking of billions of believers around the world. The fact that science has repeatedly proved that the physical realm is the legitimate basis of objective reality means nothing to people who prefer to imagine their own thoughts are real.
If God actually existed, He would necessarily have to be part of the physical realm, where all matter and energy in the universe also exist. Such a tangible God would be susceptible to the laws of physics and could not conceal His existence from humanity. Because no physical evidence exists, the only reasonable alternative is that God is actually a mental concept, a solipsistic figment of the imagination. Those who prefer to imagine their God is a supernatural deity are reminded that this view only appears to be reasonable if one abandons reason and embraces Solipsism.

Some people feel that they have a spiritual confirmation of God's existence, and I think that unless a person has felt that same confirmation, it's hard for them to understand just exactly what it is.
:-)
Or at least, that's the way I see it... I won't preach, but I feel deep in my soul that God is real and that I hear Him speak to me when I pray. It's like having a spiritual connection - just as Buddhists will say that Buddha connects spiritually with them when they meditate.
That's my experience.. I'm sure there are many other reasons that people would feel that they KNOW God exists. It's interesting, either way :-)

Are you angry because you do not KNOW God exists?
I KNOW because I have seen the signs. These are personal signs only I can understand. That's how God works. God doesn't have to prove anything to us and no on is to test the power of God.
People can think many things. Remeber when people thought that the world was flat?
Personally, I'm not one to force what I believe on others because you believe what you want to. But, the above is true to my own knowledge and no one else's.

I don't just think God exists I do know it. How you ask because I have experienced the changes he has brought about in me. Things I know I could not have done on my own because I tried for years to do it, it wasn't until I got to the end of myself and cried out to him that the changes came about. I know he exists because I have been unemployed for 10 months and still all my needs are met and then some. He has taught me that I can rely on him for my needs to be met. I know he exists because I feel his love for me. I know he exists because for years I only thought he existed and when I really came face to face with him within myself I know that there was a vast difference in the experience then and now. Mostly I know he exists because within me is the ability now to love and forgive others no matter what they do and that is not something that comes naturally to people.

People say they know God exists because they know God personally. God's Word is true. If you do what the Word says, the Word proves itself. Jesus says "blessed rather are they that hear and do the word of God." Do what the Word says and you will see if God is true or not. Stop being an observer and get in the game.

Yeah! I just served him soup last night at the Salvation Army!
Well, either the guy was God or just making crazy claims to be God. But he had a wild, long beard and looked like he slept in bird poop! I mean, really, who could love bird poop enough to sleep in it other than God, the inventor of bird poop?

look around you look at the universe and how complex it is. Do you think this universe wasn't designed by God? What do you think would happen if the earth was just 1/4inch of its Axsis? Or what do you think would happen if the sun was oh say a Little closer or a little bit further away? We get rain for our crops and sun to help them grow......God has given us proof of who He is and we see it everyday yet we still don't believe. Do you think that God isn't the author of science

Christians who have had some kind of contact with God (they have heard Him, seen Him, felt His presence, speak in tongues or have some other gift) are know as evangelical Christians.
There are millions of people around the world who have this knowledge.

What you call lack of physical evidence, they call an abundance of physical evidence.
People KNOW god exists because of FAITH.
KRUGER - You obviously underestimate the power of FAITH. As you must believe in science, WHY ARE BLACK HOLES CONSIDERED TO BE KNOWN AND NOT THOUGHT? HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ONE, WHERE IS IT AND SO ON AND SO ON.
