Albeit you're getting remedies for acne from a couple of people, it doesn't sound as such -- correct?
If you're talking about "pigmentation," or a darkening of the skin in patches around the face, then this is probably something entirely different.
This is probably an age-related change that is occurring with your skin, and may be due more in part to hormonal changes as well. There's a condition called "Melasma," that you may want to look up and refer to, although it is most commonly found during pregnancy. There's really no treatment for it, but it would be best for you to see your medical care provider first.
Best regards.

The best way to fix skin is from the inside out. Eat lots of veggies and fruit, and drink lots of water. Increasing the amount of fish you have in your diet will also help a lot. (Increasing to 2-3 times a week or more will show significant results in a matter of weeks)
Next be sure to use sunscreen everyday.
Also wash your face with cool water and a gentle cleanser. (if your skin feels tight or is red afterwards - the cleanser is too strong for your skin)
Don't get suckered into multi-level facial regimes. They are designed to sell product not take care of skin.
I hope that helps. :)
