daljack, yes, god said thou shall not kill, but he also says to kill.

alack and Fish, the bible says "The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand for ever. [Isaiah 40 verse 8] " Is this wrong?

Whitehorse, the bible says "whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.", it doesn't say they will die. God is talking to Moses here.

Sass, I'm sure I've read the bible more than you, and know it better. The reason you BELIEVE in the bible is because you HAVE NOT READ the bible.

Eds, what about Jews? Should they kill people that work on the sabbath, as the bible commands?

notyou, the bible wasn't meant to be taken literally? Ok, so was jesus not literally the son of god? Did god not literally create the earth?

cmg, no, i'm not on drugs.

Michelle, I'm just reading the bible. I didn't write it.

Dave, I'm not taking it out of context, I read the whole book of Exodus.

That's all the room they gave me!

I am not a student of ministry, not even close... but Christ didn't come on earth to abolish the law. He came to rectify it. Although God doesn't zap people dead as he seemingly had in Old Testament, judgment awaits sinners who continue to sin. Jesus showed while on earth that the pharisees do not even have love for the people or follow the command "love one another" when they consider themselves so pure and holy because they never "broke" the Sabbath keeping, which meant no work (to them). However, isn't the Sabbath about communing with God? That is why Jesus introduced a whole new perspective. Loving one another and helping another on the Sabbath is a very important thing to do. I can't assess how important in relation the keeping of Sabbath. But Jesus introduced a subclause and condition. I don't know if that helps or just confused. Like I said, I am not an expert but a baby in the bible.

For Christians, we don't have to sanctify Sabbath. We have to sanctify Sunday, it is the day when Jesus was raised from the dead. If we cant sanctify Sunday , we have to sanctify any other day . It is just a proclaimation that God will help us or provide time to do what we have to do in that day . It is like giving tenth of our money and any other thing.

For the Jews , they have to sanctify Sabbath, as God rested on the seventh day of creation, which is Saturday. The Talmud mentions many many things which r not allowed to b done on Saturday , like setting fire, or travelling in a distance more than 200 meter. Or turning on a TV or a radio or pressing a key of a lift, as all these things r considered to b producing flame. They have someone called " Shabbath Goy" , it is a person who have to do all these things for the Jews on Saturday, as he\she is not a Jewish, he\she might be Christian or a Muslim or of any other religion.

Good luck!

Hottie,
NO way! CHRIST came and we are to follow a New Testament. The Old has been taken away. We are told that the New Testament Christians met on the First Day of the Week to break bread and to give as they have been prospered. We worship as they did and keeping the Sabbath was for the Old Testament followers, Primarily the Israelites. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

Exodus is under the old convanent. All the Old Testament is.
Although, it should be followed though. Such as, the 10 Commandments. But, Jesus died for us so we don't have to kill others.

But, if a Jew answers listen to them. They are God's chosen people and know more then me. See, me as a Christian am adopted in the family. The Jews are part of the actual family though.

Read Leviticus 20. It says that if a person dishonors his/ her parents he should be killed. If a man has sex with another man or animal he should be killed.

So Who throws the first stone?

Jesus said if a man and his donkey fell into a pit on the Sabbath, would you not help him out? He also said he was the "New Testament"

Rules were made in the Old Testament to establish a nation under God. The rules needed in those days are not needed today. No, we should not kill people that work on the Sabbath.

the old testament laws were nailed to the cross...check out the new testament.....

that is the problem the Pharisees and the Sadducee's had....

in today's world there are necessary support services, fire, police, hospital, nursing homes.....

those of us who observe the Sabbath and our jobs require working on the Sabbath, ( I was in nursing home work) we would donate our time by not clocking in or the days $ would go to the church fund.....

why are you nit picking when you do not care about the law either way??

Some people have to work on the Sabbath to help out their families. Why would God want to kill someone like that? Go after deadbeat mom and dad's instead.

By the way, if you bothered to read the New Testament, you'd see that Jesus speaks about this particular topic when he is criticized for performing miracles on the sabbath.

If you are going to make these kinds of arguments, please make sure you have the whole picture.

If you don't believe that's your choice, but this makes you look petty and silly.
