You cannot make anyone care about what you say. All you can do is present the information in a way that will strike their curiosity. Not everyone will share the same feelings you do.

Well the obvious answer to, "how do you get people to care about what you say? " is.........
say something worth caring about.....

i dont say that to be sarcastic, only to be truthful.

If a person speaks in a monotone barely audible voice, or if they look around, or look down, and act like they can't believe I'm actually listening to them.....i lose interest and will let my thoughts wander somewhere else.

But.........
If that same person speaks up, looks me in the eye, speaks articulately and gets directly to the point.....I will listen.

Part of the problem with people who are frequently ignored is that they don't self censor. By this I mean, say in your head what you are about to say out loud. If it sounds good in your head, most likely it will sound good once it is said.

Keep what you say short and sweet and to the point. This will create a pattern of conversationalism in which people will recognize that you are fun to talk to.....and will start looking forward to talking with you.

Find some friends, sit at a coffee shop, and practice your skills. You will improve in no time!

You can't, so don't even try.

How would you like it if you didn't particularly care about what someone said to you, but they got in your face and MADE you say you care about it? You may say that you cared about it, but I'll bet when they walked away you would tell yourself, and anyone around you that they were crazy.

Anyways, that's my take on it. Don't be so worried about what people think. What difference will it make in the long run. I mean don't be a jerk about stiff, but realize you can't control others....

Stevo.

With trust. If you constantly say the truth and don't exaggerate or comment things just for the sake of it, people start to listen to you when you speak.
That is why it is important to be quiet unless you have something nice, intelligent, truthful, helpful or interesting to say.
people that speak a lot tend to say too much.

Well like giving a presentation (or even TV commercial) you have to create interest. The "What's In IT For Me", why should I listen it you.
You have to appeal to them at their level.
Like selling Pet Rock's or any other idea, once you do that, it's easy.

You have to address concerns or issues that are important to them. You have to care about what they say first.

It's all about presentation. If you are mumbling, slouching, not projecting, and not showing passion towards what you are saying, no one wil take notice.
