There's no direct evidence to support the God Hypothesis.

Unless or until some is presented, atheism wins by default.

Hi and good morning.....Does God exist? ...Non believers would say 'no'. Scientists would have a scientific view or a psychological opinion. Christians and the 'believers' would agree that God exists due to their faith. I believe that God exists due to my faith and what I have been taught through my life as a Christian. I believe that God is the author of the 'Holy Book' and inspired certain individuals to write the book for Him, however I do have an open-mind on some issues that were written in the Bible. Such as the Book of Genesis...When God created the earth and the heavens and 'man'. Now I believe in my heart that some 'great entity' or 'great spirit' created the earth and the heavens. And I also believe that the same 'Great Spirit' or 'God' created all living things but I also feel that the scientists could be partially right also in their claims that evolution had a part in the creation. In my opinion God started the creation and all things but I also feel that evolution finished the process where God left off so do speak. There are quite a few things that I question in the O.T. I'm not saying that what was written is untrue or false, I'm just saying that I have an open-mind to somethings that were written. I have my questions. God exists to those who believe in Him and His word. Without God there would be 'nothing'. And 'nothing from nothing' leaves what? 'Nothing! God is 'love'. So when I see a child being born, I see God. When I witness a new discovery of species, I see God. When I look out my window and see the beautiful tree's turning their autumn colors I see God. If one believes in Him and His word and holds Him dear within their hearts and see the Holy Spirit in one's eye's then God exists. Have a blessed day!

I rather doubt the person asking or most answering want anything other than to dismiss others. I doubt that there is such an entity as God. I agree there is no convincing evidence to believe in this as there are hundred if not thousands of invented Gods and many invented religions quite a few claiming to be the only way. Some have ancient texts claiming people who got messages from God and recording far out events that are out of the realm of what we normally experience as reality. I read through the answers here and find them all to sound like people just convincing themselves what they want to believe. No proof there in not knowing all the answers how life and the universe arose. Why must it be supernatural? What caused God? Why opt God out of the logic? Beauty, pregnancy, personal feelings are not convincing arguments unless you want to believe and are looking for reasons.

the existence of God is one of those things that can be clearly established if the one confronting the issue has not already decided the outcome of the discussion before hand.

In the 1800's the idea of the watch existing in the wilderness was used to explain how there is order to the world, and that order could not exist without a God creating it. The argument went like this. You see order in the universe, but which means intelligence made what you see.

Famous atheist, like huxley and others took aim at the argument from from the standpoint that you don't find a watch in the wilderness proving God does not exist. I'm simplifying the argument.

On a purely scientific approach to abiogenesis as one on here thought I did not understand, proves the absolute existence of God beyond any doubt. Here is how that works,

the unlearned would tell you that back long ago, the earth was without oxygen and all the molecules for the building blocks of life were there and a lightning bolt or some other energy source somehow helped these thing arrange themselves into order so that the first life appeared, a simple thing found in fossils here on the earth, (and apparently on mars as well).

The problem that they don't seem to be able to deal with, is that in an atmosphere of ammonia and who can say what else, ultraviolet light would have sterilized this life even before it began.

second problem is that if somehow, and Dr. Crick says it could not happen, the building blocks arranged themselves together, there is still the huge problem of making the cell membrane for animals, the protoplasm and other structures needed to have cell life.

while to someone who wants something to be true, perhaps they can over look that, but to someone who was raised on having to prove my observations objectively as a scientist would (my parents were educators and I could not just make an observation without supporting evidence for a conclusion), I can't accept that things just happened. Like mysteriously a cell membrane formed, why? what about the ultraviolet light that was coming in without any sheilding for the life.

there is also another proof of the existence of God that the critic dismisses. That is the transformed life from criminal to law abiding, loving human who moves heaven and earth to do the right thing because he loves Jesus. The transformation of the lives of men and women prove the work of the LORD God, not allah, beyond any reasonable doubt.

To disprove the existence of God, first you must have all knowledge, as you must be able to know that there is no dimension where God is not. You must also have all wisdom to know all evidence and support to demonstrate that God does not exist. In short, you yourself would have to be God.

This is not a matter of faith to disprove God, it is a matter of the nature of spiritual things. Many on here like to discuss that God does not exist. Using that same argument, I have not met them face to face, so how do I know they exist.
I take it on the merit that they are communicating an idea, regardless of how ignorant they are of the facts.

The existence of God is a matter of faith, a fact of existence for life on earth (and mars if there past/present).

you "know"?
I'd like your proof, if you would be so willing to share?
and I'm sorry, but
"I've talked to him"
-->[[because if you've talked to him, or been given irrevocable proof, why are there so many that haven't? why (hypothetically) wouldn't a loving a father want ALL of his children to know of him? and if you're going to say we've ignored it, or we haven't tried....if he's so omnipotent, HE can surely manage to do that much, can't he? why should we have to wonder? if you're right.]]
"because we exist"
--> [[there are many other explanations for that. Some are possibly more likely, most are just as sketchy.]]
"the bible says so"
--> [[I do hope this one is self-explanitory...]]
and any other mindless answer, does not denote real "proof".
------------------------------
I personally believe in a Goddess and God in the sense that they're an intangible force that lives to some degree in all of us, and everything around us. in the sense that they embody and represent things as widespread from just energy itself to the feeling you get walking alone at night, away from the city and unnatural light, etc.
-------------------------------
I don't know that I'm right.
I don't know that you're right.
maybe neither of us are.
but I don't claim to know....
and i don't believe that YOU do know, either.

and that's honestly not the best way to start a discussion, by claiming that you're right before anyone even has a chance to respond.
and as another answerer has stated, I'm sure you'll pick an answer that agrees with yours, but that's fine, that's expected *shrugs.*.

Blessed be.

It does not make sense to believe in a deity or any supernatural phenomenon without the evidence to suggest that it exists.

Over thousands of years, hundreds of wars, deities, governments, there is not one piece of evidence that any of it was grounded in reality.

All religions answered claims about the creation of human beings on this planet, in the form of creation stories These claims about the natural world mix the natural with the supernatural, and can be examined by the scientific method.

Today, modern science has added to the human understanding of our origins. There was no garden of eden or worldwide flood, invalidating Genesis, which was originally designed to be taken literally. Humans emerged via a process of evolution with natural selection, and this contradicts virtually every ancient belief system that posits a god created our species. Even the religions that accept evolution today often do so by claiming that their texts were never meant to be interpreted literally to begin with -- but this is a wash.

I posit that all religions and manifestations of gods are produced by the minds of believers under the justification of faith, and that the supernatural does not exist in real life.

As for the idea that an intelligence set in motion the physical laws of the universe, allowing life to emerge -- I do not think it is likely, considering the increasing complexity of the universe over time, and I can not believe in such a premise without evidence -- but I do not say it's a certainty.

Sherlock Holmes (or should I say Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote Sherlock Holmes) said something to the affect that when you have removed all the impossible solutions, then whatever is left, no matter how improbable, must be the solution.

I have demonstrated over and over and over again within Yahoo questions the absurdity of believing in evolution. It flies in the face of science, and it flies in the face of logic. Darwin developed his theory on faulty science (or at best, incomplete science), not knowing ANY thing about DNA, RNA mitochondria, the nucleus, etc, etc. And since his premise was wrong, then his "logical" conclusion was also wrong. The only alternative is that God DOES exist.

Personally, however, He has changed my life. He set me free from a life style of drugs, booze, cigs, etc. Jesus is my Lord, my Savior, and my deliverer, and there is nothing as powerful as experiencing the Love of God pour through your being.

I grew up in a household in which we were taught that Jesus was a lunatic, or a liar, a deceiver, and above all else, dead.

It's hard to deny Someone's existence after you've met Him!

Yes. The only way to ever know is to have a personal experience whereby you come to know God is real. People can not give this experience to each other, everyone develops their relationship with God in their own way. Those who do not have not found Him and don't care to, and this is unfortunately most likely because they have false notions about God which they often rightfully reject.

"Said Jesus: "If you truly want to find God, that desire is in itself evidence that you have already found him. Your trouble is not that you cannot find God, for the Father has already found you; your trouble is simply that you do not know God."

I personally can't see, hear, smell, feel, touch or sense him in any way with or without the use of instruments nor can I communicate with him in any way... this leads me to the conclusion that God does not exist in any meaningful way to me and I just cannot believe others who say he does for them.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and it's just not there.
If you showed a little less arrogance and said that you hoped God exists I could accept that statement from you, but to say you know God exists as you do is a very big claim indeed and I don't believe it for a moment, otherwise you could demonstrate how you know to me.

you lie.you believe there is a god.if you really knew there was a god that would mean we are not all created equal.believing is not the same as knowing.for example. i could say "i believe its going to rain today" that doesn't mean it will.i wish there was a way to really know if there was a god.because if i knew there was a god i would never sin.but wait also if we knew there was a god, that would make living pointless.

God exists for anybody that believes God exists.

For some people, God exists in heaven, for some God exists within the soul of every person and for others, God exists in all living things.

God, or a higher power, is the best that exists within all of us - the good that we give to make this world a better place not just for ourselves, but for everybody and every living thing. The evidence of God, therefore, is revealed in giving the best we have to give.
