My almost 2 yr old Jack Russel/Papillion mix, has been pooping blood. This started about 3 weeks ago. She was also throwing up constantly, not eating, etc, so we took her to the vet immediately. They said she was a little dehydrated, and did tests, and ruled out parvo, something she swallowed, and did blood work on her, everything looked fine they said to change her diet to a bland meal. Well, it took a while for her pool to turn solid, and for her to get back to normal, she did. She is now done with her meds, and last night would not eat again, this mornign I saw some blood in her stool again, we do plan to take her to a vet, but what could possibly be wrong. I do not want to take her to have them tell me that she is fine again.

Also, she is still on this bland diet, chicken and rice, so I don't think it could be that.

While I certainly am in no position to diagnose your dog...this is what happened with mine.

He had a similar problem. He was treated for an infection, but the vet wanted to make sure there was nothing foreign stuck in the digestive track. He had me give the dog a heaping spoonful of metamucil, which forms a gel-like substance around the object and helps the dog pass it. When he finally went to the bathroom, I found what had been stuck in there...a green chunk of cloth. Could be your dog ate something. But it could also be worms or some other type of illness. Don't worry, the vet will get it sorted out. :)

you need a new vet...

if the vet suspected a blockage (which is what it could be) x-rays or an ultrasound should have been done imediatly to detrermine if it is and if so where it is and if it would pass on its own...
but this point, if its a blockage she WILL need surgery to save her life.

it could be worms, it could be anything!

go to a new vet, take a sample of her poop with you, have them recheck for parvo as a just in case...unfortunatly a bland diet might stop the diahrea but wont help with the blood.

Take the dog to the vet. It may be an infection in the bladder. I sure the vet will just give the dog some tablets. This can be normal in a dog make sure that you keep an eye on the dog. Best advice take him to the vet and see what they say. Dont worry thou. The vet should be able to help you. x

I would get a second opinion. This sounds like a bowel obstruction of some kind. Blood work does not always show problems with the digestive tract. I would demand results before leaving the vet this time. This is not normal and should be investigated throughly.

Could be major and life threatening - could be a mild stomach upset.
You did the right thing by getting her straight to the vet.
Any vet who was happy to virtually ignore a dog that was presenting these symptoms should be seriously questioned by their peers.
Please find a different vet - even one at the same practice, but please feel confident enough to not leave before you get some kind of prognosis.
Good luck, hope it all goes well

I would rec'd some x-rays. JR's are notorious for eating things they shouldn't and getting a foreign body (intestinal blockage). If that is the case, it could have been stuck somewhere a few weeks ago, causing the symptoms you described, then dislodged and is now stuck somewhere else. Not a good sign if there is something in there and she hasn't passed it completely in 3 weeks.

some times they poo blood if they are a bit constipated, but when a dog poo's out blood it should always be checked by a vet it could be a sign of an underlying condition or illness,

Take the dog to a different vet to see what they say. The vet you are going to might have a different opinion of what is wrong with your dog. Unless if your vet is trustworthy. But I would take it to the vet A.S.A.P.!!!!
