I've wondered the same thing of those who like to slam people of different beliefs...
I'm not sure what could motivate someone to do it, but maybe it's an insecurity in their own faith - they might slander someone elses religion because in doing so it makes them feel more justified in theirs?
It's just a random guess... Or some people can just be mad or have a vendetta against a particular faith after a bad personal experience.
Either way, I really wish people wouldn't pay each other out.... We're all entitled to choose our beliefs and to have that respected.
:-)

If saying that the sky is blue at midday on a sunny day when someone says that it is purple on a sunny day at midday is considered slamming, then I'm a slammer (kinda like, if I express my opinions, or down right facts, and if they consider it slamming, it's not my problem that I am exercising my right to voice my opinions) If I DO slam (my and probably ever body's definition) I don't mean to, it usually comes out because of the survival instincts that have been ingrained into me when I go to public school (and I live in the Bible belt, and I'm an Atheist, you do the math....) So...I hope I helped you out some....^_^

I know what I believe and why I believe it. I make no apologies for presenting my beliefs, reguardless of who, might be offended. I do not however,"Slam" others, who think differently, than I and when I personally am attacked,my goal is to respond with truth and in love. God is glorified, not only in the quality of answer, but also in the presentation and spirit in which it is delivered.
Once again,I do not respect or endorse all beliefs,I do respect all human life.

It makes the speaker look foolish. Like all those times we see someone slamming another person merely because the other person believes that if he or she deeply loves someone of the same sex and wants to feel committed to them, they should be allowed to, even though affairs of the heart are a private matter and does no one any harm.
That gets my goat, sure.

UNFORTUNATELY, that is the only reason
some people are here.
I will NEVER understand why they do it.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion here,
yet their are some people that think the
reason they are here is to make everyone that doesn't believe as they do MISERABLE. And they go out of their way to hurt others.

In this day and age, all disagreements are considered to be "slams". So where is the path around offense?

I don't slam, unless they want me to. I straighten them out. And you are correct . . . everyone should come up with their own religion.

If I make a counterpoint that makes someone feel "slammed", that's a 'them' problem, not a 'me' problem.
