Ways to deal with depression
How you manage depression depends on the type of depression and how bad it is. Some of the following things can be very helpful:
1) Talk to a friend or person you trust.
Counselling could help you understand the reason for depression and sort out practical problems - you could talk to your doctor or a counsellor at your local school or community health centre.
2) Some studies suggest that what you eat affects your mood. A good balanced diet will make sure you have all the essential nutrients needed for your brain to function well. E
3) Exercise. Studies have shown that after only 30 minutes of exercise people get a boost of good feelings. 30 minutes of moderate exercise 3 times a week is what you should aim for.
4) Try to relax more. Relaxation exercises are a good way to reduce stress
5) Do creative things like writing and drawing - different forms of expression other than talking.
6) Anti-depressant drugs - modern drugs are effective, and will not send you to sleep, but they should be used with regular check ups and counselling support. Most doctors will be reluctant to prescribe medication to people under about 18 years old.

I've been fighting it for 25 years, and sometimes I deal well with it and sometimes I don't. Right now I don't.
For me it's a matter of getting my meds right, and that's not easy, at least not for me.
It's also a matter of therapy, exploring personality issues with a therapist, and learning all the things that are healthy for a depressed person to do, like exercise. Exercise creates chemicals in your brain that are natural anti-depressants. It makes depressed people feel better. There's lots of stuff like that to do, and stuff not to do (like stay in bed in a dark room even though you've rested already).
That's how I'm dealing right now. I will get better, and even if I don't, I know that the things I'm doing now are touching other peoples' lives in a positive way. The Bible says I am laying up treasure for myself in the heavens. I like that. Doing something here on earth that will help me out eternally.

If you are aware that you are depressed then you have to fight it. Think about what at that particular time is making you depressed. Figure out what emotion is appropriate, give it a few moments, take care of it and then let it go. The longer you hold onto things the worse depression gets. The real ones that suck are the ones you can do nothing about. You really have to let them go and just realize that whatever happens will happen whether or not you worry. I know it's hard to fight it but you have to try. If you are unable to handle it, there are help lines, these people rock. They will just listen to you and help you work through it.

The best way to deal with actual clinical depression is with the help of a therapist and (in some cases) medication. Depression is a chemical imbalance within your system (contrary to Tom Cruise's belief) and sometimes, you'll need medication to "rebalance" yourself. However, if you're talking about a bad day depression, I say Godiva and brownies ;)

Please see a doctor. Get a referral to see a specialist in this field. You might have to wait. Nevermind, at least you've made the move. Once you see someone, work closely with them. I suggest you take notes when you get back from each session. This helps you to remember stuff better. You also have your own record for reference. Stay positive, because this can be treated. The symptoms and feeling will improve with treatment. But depression is a serious matter, so please don't wait too long before you make a decision. Good luck, and remember, you can do something and you will improve.
