I'm flying with my cat from Chicago to Italy and arriving at the Rome Fiumicino Airport. My kitty is riding in cargo, so will I pick him up where I get my bags? Should there be an information area that will have him? If you know the Rome airport or have traveled with pets via airplane, please answer! Thanks - cheers!

No. You pick him up at Air Cargo. Ask the flight attendant on board your international flight for directions to air cargo at the airport in Rome. If the flight attendant doesn't know he or she will have someone meet you at the arrival gate and give you some assistance. Make sure you have all of the documents about the cat in your carry-on luggage. Not in your checked luggage.

If the cat is check in at the ticket counter than the cat will be picked up at the baggage area - not on the carousel but in the area where your normal baggage is picked up
if the cat is check in at the cargo facility, meaning a separate building than the cat will have to be picked up at the cargo facility in Italy and clear customs and ag there rather than at the airport with you

Are you sure Italy doesn't have quarentine proceedures for animals? You might not be able to pick your cat up for six months.

Your cat will be where specialty cargo is in baggage claim not in the carrosel part. you can talk to the airline too about their procedures. ( i would talk to the airline , myself) have a good flight.
