Sweetie, I wish you wouldn't let your kitty out at all. He probably sleeps all day anyway.

A few weeks ago, my husband picked up our cat, Shinkey Gato and she literally screamed. We determined that something was wrong on her right side. We took her to the vet, who found a bite or claw mark on her side which was very infected. We started antibiotics, and she was better soon.

The reason she got that injury was fighting with other cats or with a dog. If we'd started antibiotics, say, a couple of days later, she'd have died. All because we let her outside. I really regret letting her become an indoor/outdoor cat. The vet says that her lifespan would have been a lot longer if she was just a housecat.

I've given you my point of view, so now you get to decide.

Best wishes,

TX kitty mom

Never, never, NEVER!! It is not important for your cat to go outside to explore! I honestly don't understand why cat owners insist that their cats NEED to go outside!

I volunteer at a no kill cat shelter and I would LOVE for some cat owners to come and have a look at the cats who are allowed to "explore" outside. Cats that have been attacked by other cats; cats shot up with bb pellets by cruel children; cats tortured so badly that they had to be put down; unwanted kittens; cats with FIV....and the list goes on and on.

Cats are very adaptable and she will be just fine indoors. Just make sure you've got some toys for her to keep her occupied. Leave the radio on for her while you're away. And when you come home, if you want to let her go outside, tether her to a harness and leash for some fresh air (while being outside with her).

DO NOT let your kitten outside until it is FULLY VACCINATED and Spayed or Neutered.

ideally cats/kittens should NEVER be allowed out - too many people wanting to kill them, too many accidents, etc.

if you want your cat to be safe build a cat section for it.

NEVER let a cat out when you are not home!!!
If it got hit by a car it would suffer for hours till you found it.

She has to get at least 4 months old. and you have to teach her to go outside, first under your supervision. Actually, I would say it is best to let her out when you are around, not when you are at school, so that you can keep an eye on her.

Cats should not be allowed outdoors to explore. But do not let her out until she has had all her shots and has been spayed.

Well, you want to be sure that she'll come back to you when you call her.

Also, you might want to wait until you get her fixed so she doesn't get pregnant on a trip out.

if you have to let it out, wait until all its vaccinations are up to date, the cat is spayed/neutered. do not let it out when no one is home. only let it out during the day, not at night.
