Marijuana is not a depressant. Nor is it a stimulant. It is a euphoric.
I don't think I would mix them however, at least not long term. We just don't KNOW the effects because they can't be studied correctly (because you would have to give out weed in the clinical studies and that is illegal).
Pot does effect dopamine and norepinepherine. So far, we don't know what the effect is on Serotonin (which is what your medication affects).

I'm on sertaline as well and i find exactly the same symptoms, i still feel down all the time but i can now put on a front to everyone most of the time, i've been on this for around 18 months now at 200mg i was put on it after my son died in 2008. I think this is probably the best i will ever get and i'm still not sure i will cope with my life as it is now, but i'm so pleased to hear it has helped you so much i think the numb feeling is to help you cope when things happen instead of falling apart, as you are coping so well now you could probably try a smaller dose and see if you still cope ok as your reactions return. Whatever happens i hope your life remains happy and you have a good life.

Anytime you take a drug which is a Psych drug and combine it with another mind altering drug like WEED you risk the chance of having a psychotic experience to some degree, paranoid, hallucinations impending doom, just be aware of the risk vs the benefits, are you getting relief from the Sertraline? Doesn't sound like it if you are self medicating, talk to your Doctor, and talk to them candidly. Remember that drugs are only 20% of the problem legal or otherwise!

back in my day, haha... ok yeah i found that smoking while on anti-depressants seems to give you a big "fall" the next day or a couple of days later. I in fact quit smoking b/c of that, i would rather keep on the happy side as often as possible then have one great night and then have a big fall a couple of days later.... just watch yoruself, in the week following lighting up, notice if you have any kind of mood swings, if so then you'll have to make a descion.
PS
it won't ruin your high to be on an anit-deppressant and smoke

marijuana is a known DEPRESSANT. If you are taking antidepressants the two antagonize and cancel each other out. You are wasting your time and money if you take an antidepressant and then smoke a known depressant like Pot.
What would happen if you smoked pot and took the antidepressant? Well, primarily, the antidepressant would not work, your depression would get steadily worse, and you won't get the buzz from the pot like you probably want.
Be smart, stop polluting your lungs and your body with pot and take the antidepressant and get yourself some counselling.

It really depends on the severity of your depression and how fragile your condition is. (I have depression too.) A guy I know has it very severely and cannot smoke weed or even have one drink with meds because it messes him up really bad and makes him suicidal.
