Playstation 1

FF VII:

The best in the seriers in my opionin, great story tho graphics do look a little dated now, can get a copy on ebay for about 5-10 pounds.

Provides a great gameplay experiance which is easier to get into then most of the other final fantasy games, great involving story and enough twists to keep you hooked. One of the shorter games but still provides you with 40+ hours of play.

FF VIII:

This one took me about 40 hours again. Very good but EXTREMELY complicated at first and in some respect too many side quests and such. It is a good thing but you'll forget what your ment to be doing, nice graphics and gameply but nothing to make it stand out. Probably the least talked about of the final fantasy's. Again ebay 5-10 pounds.

FF IX:

Absolute quality. Easy to get into, great involving story, nice graphics and plenty of things to do without overloading you like in FF8. Definintly the one I'd get out of all of them (even tho i reakon FF VII is better). Around £10+ on ebay as final fantasy 7-9 are starting to become collectable. Taken me about 60 hours

Playstation 2

FF X:

Great game, lush graphics and not to difficult, lots to do but sometimes gets a bit too techinical. Very linear compared to the last final fantasy's and a lot more puzzel solving. Led by the hand a bit too much and doesn't really have a world map. Still a great game tho. Bout £5 if ur lucky on ebay or second hand in shop. Takes about 30+ hours

FF X-2:

Hmmm.. not a fan, just feels a bit repetative, worth a punt if you can get it at about £5

FF XII:

Even tho I do enjoy this game and have spent many hours on it. I just feel it didn't deliever. The new gameply system does work nicely, very nicely in fact but I feel that its the only reason I still play the game. The story is very choppy and you forget or don't understand whats goin on at the time. The only reason I watch the cutscenes is to get back to the fighting. Lots to do but the thing that hooks you to final fantasy games is the story and its just gone missing in this game.

U'll find u'll just one day think why am i playing this, stop and never start again. So far spent about 30 hours and probs bout 2/3rds way through.

Anwser = Buy them all, you can get them pretty cheap if you look around except final fantasy 12.

But if your getting one don't start with 10 or 12 or 10 X-2 as it will put you off the seriers which is a shame, play them after u've played FF7 or FF9.

For me final fantasy 9 is as close to perfection as it comes.

FFX-2 is a sequel to FFX, so be sure to play FFX first.

FFXII looks real pretty but some people don't like the combat system.

FFVIII is a PS1 game, but you can play it on the PS2.

If you don't mind the older graphics, seek out FFVII for the PS1. I think this is the best of the series for the Playstation.

I would recommend FFX.
FFX-2 is corny.
FFXI will ruin your life. Every aspect of the game is designed to waste time and test your mental pain threshold. you will get sucked in before you realize nothing in the game is actually "fun". I tried to play the older versions but I just can't tolerate the old school graphics. I guess I'm spoiled.

Spirits Within is barely tolerable and Advent Children ridiculous and pointless.

You should buy both only because X-2 is the sequel to X, and it will be so much more meaningful/make more sense if you play X-2 after finishing X. It won't affect any gameplay, but you may not understand the significance of the main character's (Yuna) story FFX-2 is okay and all, but to truly understand the main character (Yuna) and her main purpose in that game, you should definitely play FFX. Plus, many (including me) argue that FFX is so much better.

Final Fantasy X is my personal favorite, just because I really liked some of the characters (particularly Yuna and Auron), and the story was well-told and touching. But Final Fantasy XII is a great game, too.
