yes when you know his need is certified urgent and real like helping in hospital bills, doing chores for the person who is temporarily not able to do it, helping the person look for a job when you know he is an ok person...

I would need to consider what the need was ; who it was that was in need; & if it was going to cost me anything!

I would not blindly commit to helping just any person.
