First of all RAMADAN KAREEM to all of you
Allhamdullah I am a Muslim and Inshalla will fast full Ramadan.
Regarding the question why we are fasting during Ramadan so dear all we (Muslims) fasting specially this 1 whole month (Called RAMADAN MONTH) as this Month is specially for ALLAH and ALLAH will give us reward for this month.

Fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam. The word "Sawm " (meaning to stop or abstain) is used in Arabic for fasting. A fast then means that one refrains from eating, drinking and other physical things (all those things that are otherwise allowed) from dawn to sunset. This month comes every year to spread the blessings and mercy of Allah. We are thankful to Allah for providing physical forms of divine worship such as prayer, fasting, and pilgrimage to improve our moral and spiritual condition

Throughout the year we are doing what ever we feel like some times we are escaping NAMAZ, we are avoiding the peoples who are very poor and some time they are not having enough money to eat so by fasting we are thinking about those peoples and trying to help them.

During RAMADAN we are trying to Offer NAMAZ 5 times a day as ROZA is not complete without NAMAZ.

ROZA is letting us to think to help others (your poor relatives, neighbors and other peoples staying around to you) ROZA is helping you to stop your self for doing HARAM Things like some muslims are drinking, Smoking and doing other HARAM Things so ROAZA (RAMADAN FULL MONTH) is helping them to stop doing all these things as if you will not drink, Smoke during Ramadan you will try to avoid it after RAMADAN MONTH also. (I am really sorry if I am hurting any one with my wordings)

But trust me I am not able to write exactly what I want to write

Abu Hurairah relates that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Allah, the Lord of Honor and glory says: All other deeds of man are for himself, but his fasting is purely for Me and I shall reward him for it. The fast is a shield. When any of you is fasting he should abstain from loose talk and noisy exchanges. Should anyone revile him or seek to pick a quarrel with him, he should respond with: I am observing a fast. By Him in Whose hands is the life of Muhammad, the breath of one who is fasting is purer in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk. One who fasts experiences two joys: he is joyful when he breaks his fast, and he is joyful by virtue of his fast when he meets his Lord" (Bukhari and Muslim).

MAY ALLAH (SWT) forgive all our mistakes with his RAHAMA and keep us always in his Blessings (AMEEN)

Allah Hafiz

For the non-Muslims, the reason for fasting is so we Muslims can humble ourselves and learn what it is like for the people without food to get by on a daily existence. We are allowed some food, but only when the sun goes down at night. We aren't even allowed water during the day!

Anyway, I won't be fasting for medical reasons, too. It sucks!

manniquin
i did not see that he imposed any thing about you
it is not matter of imposing democracy in Iraq or in middle east bringing some of 200 000 soldiers killing 700 000 innocents
simply he wanted you to share the comment of Ramadan and i think that is fair ,because what do we need is more understanding .one each another
snaffle
let me say it this way
1 fast Ramadan is an order from god which a Muslim should obey without discussion
2 food drinks fags(cig.) are not allowed
not to eat or drink from sunrise(first ray) to sun set,and that goes on moon calender which means Ramadan would start This year 13 th Sept.next year it could be Sept.2nd while last year it was almost 24Th of Sept and so on 11 days earlier for each year so for the coming years it would be in the hot days of august
3 out of this direct order from god which as in our book this is an order which god made to all pple Muslim Christians Jews.... pple start to think of this order.what is the wisdom of this fast, that orders from god is always liked to the goodness of humanity, many has got some opinions
cant make this longer but i answered here and there similar related questions which you can read
or for more question you can ask directly

Alhamdullilah I'm Muslim and this will be my second Ramadan fasting. I didn't do so well last year so maybe I'll do better this year. I made myself really sick last Ramadan due to my body isn't used to lack of food.

Firstly, please accept my apologies on behalf of all the non Muslim's who obviously are completely mistaken by what being Muslim means and choose to pass hurtful comments. Secondly why do you fast at Ramadan, what is the reason for doing it and do you totally fast or are some foods allowed?

InshaAllah I will be fasting in the holy month of Ramadan. But we shouldn't just limit the fasting to Ramadan, we can also fast during the rest of the year.

Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslim brother and sisters.
