Well, since Wicca tends to see both men and women equally, I'd say no.

Prior to the "God of Abraham", women were revered and worshipped. Most of the gods that were worshipped answered more to their mothers than their fathers. In multitheistic religions today, the goddess is more prominent. Women should at the very least be equal to men. It's the mentality that a man owned his wife that led to many women staying in abusive relationships, and that is mostly since the birth of Christianity.
Many of the more fundamentalist religions today still treat women at chattle, and some require silence. And some still give their husbands permission to punish them. This is appalling, and you may agree. But where you do you draw the line on where it is acceptable that a woman be less than any man.

Bazzy,
I am a Christian. I believe that any and every decision must be made using the scriptural authority of GOD. We do not want to make decisions for our FATHER, we should let HIM make those decisions for US! I do not believe that the woman is supposed to have any "Prominent Role" in the services at Church. This was made clear in the New Testament, mainly by the Apostle Paul. Correct me if I am wrong and I will study those scriptural references that are given. Have a wonderful day and a glorious week.
Thank YOU,
Eds
EDIT:
Allison,
Paul wrote that the man is to love his wife as CHRIST first loved the Church. Christ gave HIS LIFE for that Church and I believe the man should be willing to do this for his wife. No love is greater than that (in my opinion).

In judaism? In some ocaasions.Like in My modern Orthodox Shul in the womens side of the shul they have their own torah and prayer books and stuff. But there is like a womens friday evening service bettween candlelighting and kiddush and they go home before kiddush. The men have services after the shabbat meal.So we try to let everyone have an 50/50.Not 80/20 in Haredi shuls.

Short of being a priest in the temple in Jerusalem if it's ever rebuilt, or being circumcised, a woman can do whatever a man does in Reform Judaism, so I'm quite happy with the role of women in my religion.

Not beyond what God has said in His book the Bible.
If it is read carefully, you will see that women play a HUGE role. And even today, in most churches, the women are usually the ones that do most of the works.
We each of us have our God-given roles.

It's not a problem of any religion, but of the people who misinterpretate them. I am quite satisfied with my role, btw. :)

in my pagan faith, men and women are equal - the way the gods intended it to be
so, no, because that would put them above men, and that would be wrong
