i believe all too many are in it just for money.

Jesus didna even have a home wherein to rest his head.

all he owned were the clothes on his back and his sandals.

Yet Jesus had more of value than ALL of the hypocritical Pharisees and Sadducee's combined - spiritually. And spiritual treasures are worth FAR MORE than material wealth - physical things devalue and/or disintegrate over time.

i could never attend a church where they pass around a collection plate, or where they PAY their minister. Even the Apostles were men who WORKED a secular JOB for a living,so as not to be a burden on their fellow Christians.

Big question for sure. Like a teacher, I don't believe someone becomes a preacher for the money. They do it as a calling. If they become successful, then I can see where some would think they're in it for the $s.

I belong to a large church where I'm sure the lead pastor is paid well. Is he in it for the money? No, he's progressed in his career to the point where he's paid well for his services.

If you, let's say, are an accountant. Did you become one for the money? Probably not. You did it because you're good with figures. If you become the CFO of a major corporation because of your skills, are you doing it because of the money? Again, probably not. You've simply progressed to the point in your career where you are paid well for your services.

Churches, like any other institution, needs money to survive. We, like anyone else, need money to survive. It's simply a natural progression.

Do you know where you'll spend eternity?

Read Romans.

In Christ,

Dennis

Many preachers are, not only in any certain country but all countires, But you do have those true honest preachers that are preaching God's word not for money but for the good of someone's soul. My pastor himself have been around this world 4 times preaching & Never one time had ever ask for or took up money, he always said if God called him then God will supply, If the money is not there then he won't go, How do I know he has not taken up any money, Because I have been going to his church for 33 yrs. & not one time have he ever passed a offering plate for money, we have a slot in the wall of the church for people to pay their tithes, & it has been that way ever since he started preaching in 1952.

It's hard to imagine anyone going into the ministry for the money. They believe they are serving God, but they are only too human. It doesn't take much to cross the line.

They face the same temptations we all face and they are a special target of satan. He knows that if he can bring a preacher down, he can bring down an entire congregation.

In many churches in the United States, the title "Preacher" is synonymous with "Pastor" or "Minister", and the churches minister is often referred to simply as "our/the preacher" or by name sucha s "Preacher Smith". Sometimes the minister may even be addressed by using the word, such as "Good morning, Preacher".

If some of the pastors I know are in their jobs for the money, they're sadly lacking in any financial sense because the pastors around here certainly don't make a lot of money. I wonder about a lot of the televangelists, however...

yours isn't reaching his congregation. If you are still so judemental he's not getting God's message across as it should be received. Money has nothing to do with it. Give me a mountain, I'll climb it and tell the whole world what HE tells me. And it won't cost U a nickel in the collection plate.

If you are speaking of televangelists, I would have to agree. There are many, many "preachers" in this country of all denominations who are *not* money grubbing opportunists. Unfortunately, most of them are not in the public eye.

I don't think they're making very much money. Most of the ones around here have regular jobs too.
