if the case went to court he could be called as a hostile witness. if he refuses he could be put in prison for contempt of court. he's basically stuck between a rock and a hard place. just tell him to say he didn't really see anything.

What's so wrong with him giving a statement? I don't get this. Wait...did you son actually SEE this girl attack the other girl? (try to beat her up in other words?). IF SO...then by all means he should give a statement just like the others that saw this. IF not...then it's really your choice because I'm only assuming he's a minor. YOU have to know what's in the best interest of your child and you are responsible for protecting him. Do you what feel is right for your son. Period. You're the parent, none of us here are.

So do you think you're teaching your son a good lesson? Why are you teaching him to be afraid to speak up for his rights? He has rights and you are simply hiding. It sounds more like you are afraid for yourself...
Your son should make the statement. He should not lie. He should tell the police exactly what is happening.
What you are teaching him is rubbish. I have always taught my children that it is much better to go out standing on your own two feet than to die kneeling at someone else's...
If your son doesn't make a statement and stop all of this nonsense, do you really think it's gonna help??????? No way!

So this girl was hurt for talking to your son and you don't think that he should make a statement? The other girls family could do him alot of harm? Who are they? The Sopranos?
I would say he's morally obligated to make a statement. I know as a parent you want to protect your son but sometimes doing what's right is more important.

I would have thought so. Surely he would want this matter dealt with or he could have this threat over him for ever. Best that it is formally documented by the police of the ex's actions. If anything happens to your son, the police will have evidence as to those responsible.

It all seems quite trivial stuff to me and I am sure that the police have better things to do with their time. Tell your Son to get his act together, grow up and get on with his life.
Stop getting involved with trouble and start living like a young man with a future ahead of him.

Yes. they can call him as a hostile witness, but it isn't very clear to me why the father of his ex wants him to give a statement. What does he want him to say? That she didn't start it? I'm baffled!

If it was the ex girlfriend who started the fight, then he should make a statement, its her own fault if she was the only one who got hurt!

Invite her to go hunting with you. If she declines, tell her "Well why not? Are you afraid that I might shoot your ***?"
