The Bible stretches back to more then 2000 years and is not a book, but an library of books. Authors included shepherds, kings, prophets and fishermen - they were rich and poor and from various backgrounds and time periods, all testifying to the same truth and the same God. These books vary in length and literary style. Some are as big as a paperback and other as small as a letter. Some are poetry, others history and still others prophecy. All these 66 books are note merely the work of men, but the work of God. God the Holy Spirit moved these men to write what he wanted them to hear. Each book, paragraph, sentence, word and letter inspired in such a way they are rightly called the Word of God.

Science has never proved the Bible to be wrong. I don't know what research you may be referring to but when science conflicts with the Bible there are one of two possible explanations for it.

Either the conflict comes from a wrong interpretation of the Bible, like when the church in Rome persecuted Galileo because his discoveries conflicted with their interpretations of what the Bible taught about the earth and the sun and their relative motions and positions in this universe.

Or the conflict comes from scientific speculation and theories that have a historical pattern of being overturned as new discoveries are made like the many past assertions that various places in the Bible never existed that were later found to be supported by new archaeological finds.

FYI, the Bible doesn't say how old the earth is. It wasn't until around the 4th century AD that a monk got out his calculator and started adding up lists that it started to become popular to believe that the Bible teaches the age of the earth.

One of the main problems people have with reconciling the Bible and modern science comes from the idea that there is only one way to interpret Genesis 1. Here's a link if you would care to see 7 different way Biblical scholars have used to try to understand the timings mentioned in that book.

What does Genesis 1 really teach?

The debate between Christianity and science concerns not just the scientific facts, but how they fit in with the teaching of the Bible, particularly with Genesis 1. So let's explore that.

I am aware of seven different ways in which Genesis 1 is interpreted. They are not all mutually exclusive, though most are. There are variations on some of these interpretations which I won't go into. However, as this is so crucial to the debate I think it is important to mention them all....

Well, in part, because they have made a careful study of it and found that, among other things, it is a credible work.

Admittedly many feel that the views expressed by Bible writers reflect the ideas, beliefs and concepts current in their own times and are limited by the extent of knowledge back then. If that is true, then the Bible would be full of mistaken views that prevailed at the time. On the other hand, if that is false, the Bible would be free of such mistaken notions.

Keep in mind that with the progress of knowledge, humans constantly must keep adjusting views to conform to new information and discoveries. Even as you mentioned – the "latest" scientific research yields information that sometimes contradicts what 'science' had taught before. Therefore, adjustments are made. No such adjustments are found in the Bible, written and completed almost 2000 years ago.

The Bible is not a science textbook but when it touches on scientific things, it does not contradict science. Throughout the ages there has been great ignorance regarding health matters. But the Bible is not only sound and beneficial in such things, it is free of superstitious beliefs and practices in the realm of medicine.

Time and time again the Bible's historical record has been vindicated as accurate.

There are really countless examples and much to lengthy to post here but, in short, many Christians trust the Bible because they have really examined it and do not simply accept what certain ones claim that it says. They have abundant reason to trust it.

Scientists don't seem to agree with their "latest" scientific findings, and they are human and they DO make mistakes.

The Bible does not deal specifically with "scientific research" but rather a way to live. If you want to consider 'science' in the Bible, check out the dietary laws. They would have made food safer to eat in Biblical times. You can find books that will talk about the logic of the foods talked about in the Bible.

Why do people feel the need to try and equate the Bible and the authors with science and suggest that there is an either/or relationship between them?

If somebody tells you what will happen 200 days from now and exactly happened in details as predicted what would you say? if somebody tells you what will happen 930 days ahead and it also happens to be true as predicted what will you say? if somebody tells you something that seems to be impossible and yet after around 3500 days it became to be a proven fact what can you say? Well Isaiah predicted the fall of Babylon 200 years ahead. and it came to pass in vivid details. The book of genesis predicted the days of adam to not go beyond a thousand years.. he died at the age of 930 years old, Job claimed that the world is round and the astronaut found the word of Job to be true.. only after 3,500 years. Well truly truly
men judge a book by its cover... it is sometimes wise to read first...before we listen.

Actually, the authors ARE known.

The book is full of prophecies that have and continue to come true.

Science is proving the "science" of the Bible more and more every day.

The Bible facts , God's Word, is unchanging and has yet to be proven wrong. People offer specualtion all the time and none of it ever pans out.

Science is always changing it's views on things.

Science has man-y theories, of man-y scientists,
which can be as 'cloudy' as x-ian rapture theories,
and deceivers among them as many as the x-ians.

MANY shall come...to DECEIVE...shall deceive MANY.
What part of first & last MANY did you not get?
Did you miss the TAKE HEED 101 Class?

Scientists often change their findings, for more grant $.
Few scientists are above gov't grants, love of money.
Albert Einstein: "Science is a wonderful thing
if one does not have to earn one's living at it."

Science tells me watch what you eat;
Just about everything causes cancer.
Bible tells me it's not what goes in the mouth,
but what comes out the mouth that defiles ppl.

Albert Einstein, on science & religion:
"Science without religion is lame.
Religion without science is blind."

Biblical James on religion, comparing of Law vs Grace:
- IMPure religion arrives defiled, and alsogets worse-end.
- Pure religion arrived undefiled, and remained unspotted.

Because that old book tells us how to get to Heaven. It's not meant to be a science book. Scientific research is not needed for salvation.

I am not Christian but I believe in the Torah. I think yes it takes faith to believe in but as scientific research changes over time and the science evolves, science takes faith too.
We look around us and see proof of God and that is all it takes for us. Again, usually science and religion can be compatible. They are not mutually exclusive, at least to me. They can coexist in harmony.
I think science and religion together give us the answers to we need or at least give me the answers I need.

i am a man TRYING to be a Guilla Christ, and the Bible is 3,500 years old, K?

i have read completely THROUGH the Bible MANY times, and STILL find new wisdom and important knowledge about life each and every time i start reading it again.

In this 'modern' era, HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HEAR THE PROFESSIONAL SCIENTISTS TELL US ONE THING IS good FOR US, only TO TELL US A FEW MONTHS LATER THE exact OPPOSITE?!?!?!?!

Your 'professional' 'intellectualism' is "RIDICULOUS"

Therefore, I WILL CONTINUE to take the inspired Word of God dictated to human secretaries and written down with extreme care and PRESERVED through countless holocausts intended to obliterate it out of existence forever... OVER and FAR ABOVE your superciliousness.
