I would call first, just to make sure.
Here's a little story. I work at a business two doors from a post office. One morning I came to work to find my business blockaded, the road closed in front of the building, and my parking lot filled with police cars from several surrounding municipalities. The police told me that they were waiting for the bomb squad, because a suspicious package was found by the side door of the post office. They suggested that I go home, but because of the nature of my business, (I have cylinders of flammable gases stored outside) I persuaded them that if it were a bomb, maybe I should move the materials to a safer place, and they agreed. While I was moving the tanks to a location sheilded from the possible effects of an explosion, the bomb squad showed up. As we watched from behind the barricade of the police cars, the dog approached the package and started sniffing and pawing at it. The officer beside me said " be ready to duck, he smells explosives". The dog proceded to paw and gnaw at the package, tore it open.... and began munching on the cookies inside ;-)
The note found in the package said " Thanks for your help! (signed) Gloria
Nobody wants a mysterious package in this day and age!

That is a very nice gesture. I am sure that the officers would thank you for the donuts.
We have had officers get tainted food, so the best thing to do is to show them some ID, tell them where you work and why you are doing this, and it should be OK. If you have a business card from the donut shop, include that as well.

You might want to pass. Unless you know someone there, police are suspicious anyway. In this day and time, there are a lot of people that are bold enough to drop off tainted food in order to see officers get sick. In the event someone got sick for any reason and they had eaten a donut you provided, you could be on the hook for it.
Besides that, I looks like you are profiling cops.

What would happen?
You would probably get "mugged"! LOL
Calling and inquiring with the Police Department before you do this kind gesture would be in everyones' best interests. Since Police Personnel are prohibited from accepting "anything of value" as it may be construed as "graft". Just be safe and ask before making this gesture.

If you take them in with an honest attitude and just to say thank you, I would think you would be very welcome. I know our local police department got so much food after 9/11 ( and we are in GA) that by Christmas, the chief was complaining that all his officers were gaining weight! Take them with a good attitude and you should be well received.

I don't care what the rest of these folks say. We had ppl bring treats to the jail every so often and we were always appreciative. Go ahead, but leave a business card taped to the top of the box and they will be less suspicious. And if you offer law enforcement discounts or free coffee write it on the card or on top of the box. It's a great way to develop regular customers.

If I were a cop I would hand cuff you and throw you in a cell, and call you a smart ***. But then when you weren't looking I'd eat the donuts anyway.

i think of they're going to shoot you on sight! Then they're going to divvy up your donuts and ravenously gobble them up. After that they're going to decrease your corpse up and cook dinner it in a huge metallic couldron that each and each police station has and turn you into the perfect damn broth that police station ever had!

I used to take pizzas at the end of the night to the police they just gave them to their prisoners but they were appreciated as a gesture . they really can't arrest you for bringing donuts so don't be so paranoid or you'll get arrested as a donut carrying crazy anyhow.

I'm sure they'd love it!
They probably need to be reminded every now and then that some people not only appreciate the work they do, but think about them doing it!
