I had my first at 20 and second just shy of 23rd birthday. I am 25 now.
I wish I had waited until we had gotten married, bought a house and travelled overseas first. I would say anytime from the age I am now (25 onwards) would have been better. I coped really well being a young mum but started to realise really quickly all the other stuff I was missing out on.
I don't regret it one bit but another 5yrs would have been so much better for us. 27 or 28 would be that little bit better again I think...

Oh and we are married now (17mths yay!) but still as yet to go overseas or buy that house! Our kids will be grown up by the time we are 40 though so the overseas holiday may just have to wait another 15years or so!

best of luck

I'm not a parent but i am waiting til i'm at least 35, i'm 31 now to have children, there's so much that i want to do & places that i want to see still not to mention that i want to finish my degree too. It's selfish i know but i don't want to look back & think what if & wish i'd done etc etc.
My sister wishes she'd waited because she's like me but now she wouldn't be without her son, she just finds having him so stressful & restricting. There is loads they want to do but can't until they arrange a babysitter which is always one of the family & never a stranger.
I think i may regret waiting that long as when i do have children i will be quite old when they reach my age & i do feel bad though as my other half wants them as soon as possible.

Yes! I'm 27, my daughter was born when I was almost 24, my son is only 6 months.
I really wish I had waited for about 30, I think you do get more patient and experienced as you get older, and it's better for the children.

No, I don't really...being a mother made me the person that I am. I had my first baby at 20 and it was wonderful. I was blessed I suppose with a really easy baby, she was no problem at all, and has grown into a really beautiful, happy, mature and well behaved 11 yo now. If my first baby had been difficult, I may have thought differently.

I did say before I had kids that I was going to wait till I was about 25 or 26 but I'm really glad that I didn't.

For a while I thought I'd wished I'd waited longer, but now I'm glad that I hade my first two when I did. I was in my early 20's when my boys were born. Now I'm 35 and expecting my 3rd. This pregnancy is just more physically demanding on me, even though I was in better shape when I got pg this time.

Initially, having my daughter at 22 I wished that I had waited, but now that she is 14 its great, she actually makes me feel younger!!!! We share clothes and talk openly about a lot of things, so I feel like a young Mum in touch with my daughter. I also have an 8 year old son and had him when I was 28, and felt the time was right because I had enjoyed and appreciated the early years with my daughter.

I just had my first son 5 months ago and I am 23. I, in no way, wish I had waited any longer! I ask my husband weekly when we get to start trying again...it took us 6 years to decide it was the right time to have this one(4 years dating, 2 married).
I had been wanting to have a baby for a long time, but now, I have to say that I am glad I waited till now to have one. I really couldn't imagine having one before now.

Sometimes but then I think that if I waited I wouldn't have had that particular child and she is so wonderful that I can't imagine my life without her. We didn't wait because I was 30 when we got married and we thought we didn't have much fertile time left. I wish I could have waited about a year after getting married to give more time to my husband and myself to get used to each other.

Yes...I had my first child at 24 and my second at 33. I was much better prepared at 33 than at 24. I wish I would have waited until I was around 30.
