There are many: google them. However, if the software is free, getting the DATA is not!
Many libraries, counties and administrations have put their records as microfilms on the net, and you can consult them to extract what you want. They ALL charge for the service, from a fiver to much more.
The free or cheap software have data bases of the sources where you can get info: they charge you PER INFO you get.
Finally, it depends on the country where you are looking: UK is pretty good, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany as well, US has little (has no history!), Portugal and Spain have none!
Good luck, but prepare your credit card...

If you are new then have a look at:
www.ancestry.co.uk
A lovely tree builder I downloaded and can use off line is:
My Heritage Family Tree Builder
It's a lovely one because when you click on one of your ancestors, it tells you what the relationship is.
No matter where you go on these sites, in the end you will have to pay to look at the records.
To start searching you should know the name of your parents, date of births and where they were born. You will learn as you go along. Always start with the people you know and work backwards.
Good luck.

If you belong to some royal family, the answer is probably yes. If not, the answer is no. The internet came up only about 20 years ago, so it's highly unlikely that your family tree will be there somewhere.

Stop looking for software and do it the old-fashioned way. Go to the library and look through old microfilm of obituaries and check the courthouse for records.
