There are two genealogies given in the gospels. One is of Joseph and the other is of Mary. Now, while Joseph is not Jesus's biological father, by the legal definition at the time, Joseph was his father, and Joseph was a descendant of David. Even if that does not hold up, Mary also descended from David.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Messiah has to be descended from the father's side. All it says is that He has to be a descendant of David, which Jesus is a direct descendant of through Mary. Also, Jesus would have been known as Jesus ben Joseph, since Joseph was acknowledged as his legal father. Therefore, Jesus could also claim Joseph's Davidic lines, since an adopted son was considered to have equal status and equal lineage just like a natural born son.
The house and line CAN be inherited through a daughter. In Numbers 26:33, the Hepherite clan is listed; however Hepher had no sons only daughters. His daughters petitioned moses in Numbers 27, and it was decided that if there was no son, then daughters would receive the inheritance. Part of an inheritance included your family name, since the whole concept of an inheritance was to perpetuate a family line. Besides Jesus kinda answered this question in Matthew 22:41-46
Additionally, Jesus was born in the House of David. By the time Jesus was born, Joseph and Mary were married, so technically Jesus was born to Joseph's house, i.e. the House of David.

Read the prophesy again. Jesus was born into the house of David this alone fulfills the prophesy...Think about it the prophesy says born of a virgin in the house of David, How do you suppose that is possible if the house of David is from your Father? Was it supposed to be a sign of God that a harlot would bear a child descendant of David who would be the Messiah? The prophesy is fufilled it is not even arguable.
Jesus is a Son of David both through blood of Mary and through birth in the house of David through Joseph.
Edit If you are saying the prophesy is that Jesus would be a decendant of a man David, then the prophesy could not be fufilled by any man. The prohesy clearly uses the word Alma which means young maiden which would only refer to a virgin as a young unmarried pregnant woman would be refered to as a harlot. The prophesey clearly says that a virgin would give birth in the house of David this prophesy is fufilled by Jesus who is the Christ. If Joseph or any son of David was the Father of Jesus then the prophesy would not be fufilled as Mary could not have been a virgin.
Edit
Surely you must be wiser than God and Isaiah as the prophesy clearly states that the Messiah would be born to the house of David by a virgin birth...You say Isaiah was wrong or God or both?

Read the genealogies of Jesus in the gospels. Both legal lineage through Joseph, as well as biological lineage through Mary point to king David.

i think you have your points a little mixed up. The messiah was not considered to be the descendant of King David.

Wow man you really worded that wrong. First re-post the question, and when doing so, post the verses in the bible that you are getting your information. I would hate to try and help and not be on the same page of where your going with this. Look up the definition of the word "messiah".

...you've answered your own question... God is the Father... David is a descendant of God... and...would you accept the testimony of an "eye-witness"...? This "guy" was actually there... read from the Book of John, chapter 20 vs.24 - 31

Jesus son of GOD?,and I says nope, jesus was born rather peculiar without any father, true but that doesn't proof him son of GOD.one example, prophet Adam had no father and no mother, why not you guys make up a story sayings Adam is son of GOD,no father,no mother.Later you guys thinks,WOW if Adam is son of GOD then we are great ,great grand children of GOD.He he he...right,clever like a donkey. The truth is Jesus and Adam are only prophet, sent to Earth for a purpose or mission. The priest is making up story in ancient times cause back then,it is profitable to work in a church, respectable, status, iron rice bowl.Jesus as a messenger,hm... seems less powerful to controls the people, how about Jesus as son of GOD,ahha! we have regain our control over the people. But if the same people asks again,we says that Jesus has upgraded, now he is reincarnation of GOD himself in human form, now how's that for the follower tastebuds,ok?If ok,we will carry on preaching the new testament, throw out jesus messenger story, jesus son of GOD story and now we preach Jesus as GOD reincarnation story, hopefully the follower satisfied with the latest story.
