I've read that gaining weight too quickly is just as damaging as losing weight too quickly. You should aim at gaining a pound a week. But just eating more and exercising less isn't good enough for safe, lean weight gain. Do less cardio, but more weight training. Lifting weights and bulking up with muscle is the goal here, not eating bigmacs and sitting on the couch.

As for food, you are so lucky, because you get to eat what those of us trying to lose weight crave: Nuts and Avocados. These tasty treats are loaded with unsaturated fats, and will make you feel nice and satiated without overstuffing yourself. You could go so far as to eat a cup of nuts a day (Cashews are my personal fave) and a whole avocado. Any time you eat, add a piece of whole grain toast with one of these two spread on it. Again, you're looking to increase your caloric intake by 3500 calories a week. That way you'll gain about a pound a week.

Oh, one last thing, drink sports drinks after working out. You absolutely HAVE to drink your liquids, as muscle is made up mostly of water. If you don't, you'll lose muscle mass, will be more tired, and ultimately will lose some of your weight.

Good luck!!

You have to eat...
Seriously tho if you just looking to gain weight straight up then eat. When you start feeling full, eat a little more. Dont drink too much liquids before or during your meal as this will make you feel full.

you have to exercise and then eat foods that contain sugar of high calory foods. after exercising the body absorbs what you eat more quickly. but it takes a long time to see the resuls, at least 4 months
