To answer your question directly, both.
To explain:
Yes, it's offensive to hear the name of the Lord Jesus Christ be labeled as ordinary, and just a man, and not God. It's offensive to hear that the center of your belief died on the cross for a cause that billions of people will reject. It's offensive to hear that people don't believe that the Son of God was perfect.
No, I'm not offended personally. I also know how offensive people feel it is when I tell them that they're sinners and will go to hell unless they accept Jesus to forgive them of their sins.
So I allow people to share their beliefs, as they allow me to share with them mine.
To understand the relationship that many people believe he had with Mary Magdeline, you can watch Breaking The Da Vinci Code (or it might be a book too, I'm not sure). To understand more about Christ in general, I suggest The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel (a great book about an atheist Chicago Tribune reporter that sought to disprove Christ).
As far as Jesus never saying "I am the Son of God," you're right, he didn't say that specific phrase. However, when Jesus asked Peter "who do you say I am," Peter replied "Thou art the Christ." (Mark 8:29) Jesus didn't rebuke him, however. Jesus only warned him not to tell anyone. He was merely making sure that no one would have a legal case against Him, so He can be pure and holy not only in His Father's sight, but in front of everyone else too. When Pilate asked Jesus if He was indeed the Son of God, Jesus said "you say that I Am." (all 4 gospels) He wouldn't give them a case, but allowed them to know that He was the Son of God through His miracles, teachings, and prophecies.
A tid bit off subject, a long time ago, a school was given permission to read scripture out of the Old Testament only, since there were some jews in the school, and they didn't want to offend anyone by reading about Jesus. One day, a child went home and told his parents that they read about Jesus from the Bible that day. When the parents asked about it, the teacher told them they read from Isaiah, and showed them the passage. (Apparently, even a child can understand that the Old Testament is prophecy of Jesus being the Christ).
I hope this helps. Feel free to e-mail me.

Yes...it is offensive to me, since Jesus Christ is the Savior of the Bible, and Lord and Savior to all who believe in Him. He was, by no means an ordinary man...your question puts me in mind of that one song "What if God was one of us?" By Joan Osbourne..
As a christian, I am not to judge who you are...but I will tell you that your beliefs are far from being right!
No where in the Bible does it say that Jesus was an ordinary man, who had a wife and children! He was God in the flesh put here on earth to make God's word known to all people.
He performed many miracles such as healing the sick, bringing the dead back to life, turning water into wine, walked on water, and took little food and turned it into a feast fit for hundreds of people...
You need to read your Bible, dear!! (:

There are two reasons that Christians leave their religion. They're either challenged by adversity, which is a weak reason to leave ANY faith, or they come in contact with reason while realizing what they've discoverered. People in the first instance will almost always eventually return to their faith because of fear but if they left because they finally put it all together, they hardly ever look back.

It doesn't really offend me. I sincerely hope and pray that someday you might take a second look at all of this, and maybe even be curious enough to find out in detail what we as Christians believe and why.
Keep this in mind - at one point in time, many of us were actually where you are right now. We are Bible-believing Christians now, sure, but at one time we maybe were not.
God Bless you and you have a good day too

Does it offend me? NO, but it grieves God.
You said "as far as I know according to the Bible he never said "I am the son of God.." He may not have said those exact words, but He and God the father said much more...
Mark 15:2 "Then Pilate asked Him, 'Are You the King of the Jews?' He answered and said to him, 'It is as you say.' "
John 11:25 "Jesus told her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again.' "
John 18:33 “Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered him, "Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?"
Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?"
Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."
Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?"
Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."
2 Peter 1:17 "For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Luke 3:22 "And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, 'You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.' "
Matthew 17:5 "While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!' "

It does not offend me. We are all intitled to our beliefs and you are no exception. But you see the ONE thing Christians believe you MUST do in order to go to heaven is to believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, perfect and unblemished by the world, sent to die on the cross for our sins. He was the perfect sacrifice. If He had not been the Son of God, with NO SIN we would all be lost. We can only be saved by His blood. It DOES say in the bible that Jesus said he was the Son of God.
Peace and Blessings!

Why would that offend me? I think Jesus was a human male and I strongly believe in the theory that he was married to Mary of Magdelene because marriage and family is the center of Gods plan, imo, so why wouldnt he get married. We know very very little of Jesus' personal life. In the feast where Jesus turned water into wine, his mother was that host of that party. Could that not have been his wedding party? Who knows. It doesnt change my spiritual beliefs of him, if anything it strengthens it.
I also think he was a perfect man, our savior that took upon him the sins of the world and gave us a path to eternal salvation. I dont agree with you that he was JUST a man, but there really is no reason for any to take offense at someone believing that.

It doesn't offen ME in the least. It offends YOU a great deal. Because like every single one of us, you will be judged by the Word of God - something you call a simple "history book."
So what would you call the book that spewed all these lies into your head? Was it written by the mind of God? Is it the best selling book YEAR AFTER YEAR FOR ALL TIME SINCE IT WAS FIRST PUBLISHED?
Choose wisely my dear. A soul is a terrible thing to waste.

No, I don't. I think that you can believe that and say so without offending me. But when you feel like thinking and learning about him, let me know. What you are saying has been said before, and the whole thing has been thought out from where you are at.

John 9:
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
Jesus not only said he was the Son of God but proved it.
If Jesus is not the Son of God there is no point to any discussion of God, If God is a righteous God we all are dead in our sin.
