Praise be to God who established islam and made it easy for those who approach it and gave strength to its columns against any one who tries to overpower it. So God made it (a source of) peace for him who clings to it, safety for him who enters it, argument for him who speaks about it, witness for him who fights with its help, light for him who seeks light from it, understanding for him who provides it, sagacity for him who exerts, a sign (of guidance) for him who perceives, sight for him who resolves, lesson for him who seeks advice, salvation for him who testifies, confidence for him who trusts, pleasure for him who entrusts, and shield for him who endures.
It is the most bright of all paths, the clearest of all passages. It has dignified minarets, bright highways, burning laps, prestigious field of activity, and high objective. It has a collection of race horses. It is approached eagerly. Its riders are honourable. Testimony (of God, Prophet etc.) is its way, good deeds are its minarets, death is its extremity, this world is its race-course, the Day of Judgement is its horses and Paradise is its point of approach.

Hummm, interesting...
There was a time when Islam was a totally different world. Baghdad was then a cultural and scientific capital, as well as a top trading centre. People were Muslim for the most, but others were allowed. As in Europe, though, they had to pay a special tax to be entitled to worship their God.
A few centuries later, and after so much turmoil, Islam does not show the same characteristics as it once use to have. From a tolerant, open minded and definitively scientifically on the top religion, led by philosophers, it became what it is today...
The way forward?
If religion should rule our lives, an important side of Islam, then no, for most countries had a similar system for centuries. They fought against it, and now, religion has a more spiritual level rather than political.
Women's rights...Do you really want me going this way?
Scientific credibility: some say the Koran tells us about scientific discoveries. Well, on one hand, we know that many of those so called discoveries were already known at the time the holy Koran was written. On the other hand, it is not rational to interpret a book written in the 7th century with a set of mind well settled in the 21st century, for they certainly had different interpretations of it (I particularly think about the 7 skies).
Civil peace Most countries ruled by Islam do not really live in peace. Let's forget about Iraq and Afghanistan, look at Somalia, Albania, Kosovo...And what to say about Iran, Turkey, Syria...so many countries where your life can be hardened by silly rules...
In the end, let's look at those very rich countries that produce petrol...Do they really apply the words of the Koran? Or do they just act in their own $piritua£ interest? Some may say but they built mosques around the world....to best deserve their political views we can answer... And what about free schools , run by free thinkers? Health, higher education, general level of life, thralldom, generosity....
Then I'm afraid... Today, Islam is not the way forward, cause most of its servants have lost the true message of the Koran.

No, actually that is 180 degrees wrong. Truth is that Islam is a way of turning backwards on everything. It is a belief structure that causes strife among other people who wish to observe religious freedom, much the same way the Christianity does. Except that Muslims do believe that if you are not Islamic, you must die. Sad.

You mean by killing oneself and murdering others??
The only religion is the one that does not take another persons life.....that, is the true religion.
The word 'Islam' and the word 'Allah' brings into my mind 'murder and distruction' because they are so often used by people that have killed others......
How then can this "Islam" be a way forward, if the people following it are killing everyone off?

For as long as Islam will be led by ill minded men, no.
For as long as muslims will not publically condemn violence, no
For as long as muslims will segregate men and women, no

To diamond delight... the reason why the muslims came to the western countries is because of the war in their country...because of the western countries terrorising their lands..and all this atack in the middle east and islamic countries is all a plot to seperate the muslims and to corrupt them.they want the muslims to come to the west countries so they could forget all about the muslim brother and sisters back home and to never want to return back their its all plannedd..you think your free your not masons are taking control of the world at this time...but islam will rise again because allah has promised that it will...but also the prophet muhammed peace upon him told us that it will fall the campanions of the prophets asked him why they said would they be small in number the prophet replied no they will be great in number and the muslims are great inn number today he said because the muslims will love this world and fear death they dnt want there hereafter.and they will bring a bad name for islam..and unfortanetly this is the time...prophet muhhammed also told us that the enemies of islam will invite themselves to the muslim countries like a group of humgry people who invite them selves to a plate of food..is that not the case todayy
peace Islam is the way forward the reason none of you see it is because no one or hardly anyone practises islam properly...and then the masons commit terrorist attacks and blame it on islam..bombing in madrid , london, 9/11 then they blame it on a former CIA agent osama bin laden.they say he did trying to tarnish the name of Islam...

Hello Azhar,
All believers worship their God in their own way. Who is to say which is right and which is wrong.
I personally believe that no matter what name a believer calls his/her God they are basically worshiping the same one.True, in many different ways
What is important is everyone lives their life as well as they can and tries to help those around them to the best of their ability and it makes no difference what they call their God or the way they worship him/her.
No matter who or how we worship, if we follow the general edict of Gods' laws, we will eventually receive our reward.
